I just hope we start getting players signed up soon and hear news on innis as this time of year is boring until that starts happening, normally we are linked to players but i have seen no rumours anywhere as yet

Until we are passed the deadline day unlikely to happen. Footballers contracts run to 30th June, so as we get closer to then players start to move, or will have no wonga to put on the table.

No you talk bullocks. Tom Pope wouldn't make Preston's bench but is probably paid more than their forwards. Beckford, garner, Davies and ebanks-blake .

Get over yourself it's embarrassing and the minuses are a reflection that it is just you who thinks this way.

He certainly has been this season I'm sure.

At the end of season. It is always interesting to find out what players are being released. Rumors spread around all over the summer.

I noticed some teams have already started signing new players. Cambridge have bought in 2 new experienced defenders. Mark Roberts and Leon Legge. Fleetwood have signed a striker from Aberdeen. Apparently he scored 23 goals for Morton in the scottish league one last season. We are missing out already. I wonder if we were interested in this guy. I wonder if we are still interested in Omar Boyle at Solihull Moors.

Smurf has been a breath of fresh air to date for this club in comparison to some of the reprobates we've had running our beloved club. Smurf has stuck with us and is always open and honest regarding our financial situation. We have to operate within ours and Smurfs financial means so that there is a club still to passed down the generations. The alternative is leaving one club in the City and I certainly don't want that heap of manure lording over us. Support our Smurf and he will support us.

Not disagreeing with your point, he probably wouldn't get on their bench, but there is no way he's paid more than any of their forwards.

If you think that Pope is on more than all them, then you're the one that's embarassing.

Beckford was on £30,000+ per week at Leicester, then £15,000 at Bolton...

Garner is on a reported £8,000 per week at Preston.

Have you no idea what wages strikers command? For instance Slew was on around £10,000 per week

To get back on topic, we should be pleased Smurf is taking time to build bridges and do his best to re-sign a player who was amazingly effective in a short time and did a lot to help us stay up, and possibly another player too. He gets my vote for dedication and hands-on proactive approach. In the long term, even if we don't get any players at all this time, the contacts are invaluable.

I'm wondering if Page and Bodin might ask fellow Welshmen Hughes and Bowen what players they might lend us, but I agree, building bridges and making contacts can only be a good thing.

Yes this is a good point, I know of a good young hungry striker at Stoke that might be interested in a move to Port Vale. Yusuf Coban a German born Turkish Centre Forward, worth a punt if and when Tom moves on.
