I'd guess it was almost certainly Ikpeazu that Vale spoke to yesterday, but he's obviously since decided to go back to Crewe.

 

Not sure why we're looking at strikers ahead of bringing in another centre-back to replace Inniss, when the possible replacements already at the club have proved time and again that they're not up to the job.

Who said it was ahead of bringing in a centre half? we could be looking but have not found a fit. Remember Inniss would have probably been her all season until his injury, which was only confirmed on Sunday/Monday...

The Chairman said last night, on Twitter that "Ikpezau will not sign for us". Whether that was before his charge to fans to "turn up in numbers tomorrow" with a promise to sign someone, who knows?

We play with Pope and willo. Willo isn't good enough but will page send him out on loan? I'd like to have a striker on the bench before we look to bring in another, his name is campion and his goalscoring record for minutes on the pitch is the best of our strikers.

 

Can we please bring in a centre half? If we have additional budget a right back or left back would be good.

I'd be very suprised if it wasn't the lad Crewe have signed to be honest. Fits the clues very nicely and was available. Shame really, he obviously has no ambition.

Seems fairly obvious to me.

 

The possibility of a 2nd signing (after O'Sullivan) is reported, and then we're looking at one striker on trial and have talks with another. All since Inniss' injury and return to Palace.

 

Then there are mentions on the official site regarding McGivern being back in the side and getting a chance after Inniss' injury.

 

Bringing in another centre-back should be the absolute top priority, what with the 'stand-ins' that we have available to us.

To my mind, McGovern (if he's good enough and I'm still unsure about him) is either a left back or a sweeper and not an out and out stopper who wins the first high ball. Inniss and him are completely different players.

Robbo has benefited by having a big strong lad alongside him to take some weight off him, but now he's the number one header of the ball and I worry that his game will deteriorate again.

 

Hopefully not, but surely Page can see this as well as we can. And why centre half wasn't our first priority before O'Sullivan or a striker baffles me completely.
