Two Loan Signings Targeted

VantaaVale

Recommended Posts

So, as it stands, the first 11 and bench could look something like this?

Neal

Yates

Duffy

McGivern

Dickinson

Marshall

Jennings

Lines

O'Conner

Moore

Pope

Subs:

Johnson

Brown

Birchall/Daniel

Daniel/Dodds

Williamson

Is Chris Robertson still at the club? We seem light on defenders, while another out and out forward wouldn't go amiss! Looks a stronger team to the one that finished top-half last season, that's for sure.

With Griff and Robertson not in that team, we do not have the theatre of them 'handbagging' after we've conceded from a set-piece. I'll miss that.

It seems to me, with the personnel brought in, that Adams is going to set up the same way as he did when we went top early doors before he ****** off to SUFC. Prepare yourselves for a few 1-0s

Wonder too about Cuvelier? How's his injury going on and would we be back in for him if fit? In view of our recent midfield captures it may be that we have given that option a miss?

Can't he play out wide in a 4-2-3-1 formation? I imagine he probably could do. If he became available and we could afford him he would be a decent signing ( or even on loan).

We need a right back (who can preferably cover all across the back 4) and another striker.

I would try Dodds behind Pope again, on paper the midfield is potentially more solid than last season so it could work better.

However, Adams is looking at two loan players so another striker would appear to be on the cards.

For me this season is Williamsons last chance, he has to start scoring goals or we need to get rid.

I was surprised to here when I came back that Griffith was released (or did he sign for another club?) as I always thought of him as a Micky Adams favourite. Truth be told for all of his effort he wasn't good enough the first time around in my opinion, and that was in a league below the one we're in now.

Shame that a deal like the Nile Ranger one that we were heavily linked with didn't come off. Him and a couple of defenders on loan and I genuinely think we'd be strong play-off contenders.

It's good that Robertson is still here, simply as he's an out and out centre-back and that's what we need. Preston fans were generally gutted to see him go so there must be something about him despite some iffy performances for us.

I was very disappointed with Robertson. His lack of pace combined with lack of protection from centre mid , showed his limitations , as it did with MacDonald. Fortunately the root cause of that has gone, we now have midfielders who can tackle and kick the ball the way they are facing. He may be useful at times this season.

I think Adams has had an unenviable task of replacing the players that have left (a lot more than he expected), as well as trying to improve the squad. In an ideal world we would have kept 2-3 of the better ones and added 3-4 good ones to what we already had but pre-season hasn't been an easy ride whatsoever.

I think we are still short of - ideally - 3-4 players, but the two he's chasing will probably suffice to cover all bases: another right sided defender and a striker, though who knows if we 're after a big lad to cover Pope or a nippy one to play them both together. But scoring goals will, I think, be a problem.

The manager will have done his best and certainly it's exciting to think of all the new players we've got in. 1-2 creates a buzz but half a dozen creates a lot of excitement. O'Connor and Jennings have both got experience and proven quality at this level but who knows it might turn out to be Daniel or Marshall who turn out as surprise packages. And we have to hope that McGivern can provide a bit of solidity at the back. All have a lot to prove and should be hungry to do well.

Playing with a couple of wingers is always good entertainment for the fans.

Agree mate. Robertson may just be a better centre half now we have got "protection" for him in midfield.

Why are people so obsessed by former players, and in particular Cuvelier. The bloke played 30 minutes for us and some think he's a god!! I just don't get it????

Who said he was a God??? I am not obsessed by former players, I was simply asking a question about a player a lot raved about until his unfortunate accident with us.

Chill out, mate before you blow a gasket! You are trying to turn polite question into something else. I don't get it!!!

Grimmer would be an excellent addition.

We know he can cover the middle (could probably manage as emergency left back as well).

Wouldn't surprise me if MA waited until the last week of the loan transfer window to see if he's getting any games for Fulham.

He's made the squad for their tour of Scotland but hasn't started any games yet.
