The bottom line is that we have to improve in that area, Micky has already said as much and the majority that reference key areas mention right back.

 

For me Grimmer would be an improvement on what we already have.

I got the impression he is looking for a first choice right back and rightly so as despite his undoubted effort Yates is not good enough at L1 level. Could Daniel provide LB cover or McGivern ?

He did he said it then slightly back tracked. Right back is definitely where we are weakest.

I think it is the right back is the position which does need strengthening to be fair.. and also with vale wanting another striker as well. i think it will be a big season for Williamson to score some more goals and i think he could go by next season if he doesn't improve start scoring more goals.. he is good and pacey but he seems to get terrified of scoring a goal every time he gets close to scoring the goal when he is like one on one with the keeper. i think if he wasn't afraid as much then he would be a much better player :).

Poor or not, Fulham have retained his services which suggests that he is likely to get the opportunity to prove himself at Championship level. He could be farmed out on loan later in the season if he fails to make the grade.

Grimmer was young and improving with experience. However, he is not a right back, nor is Duffy. Yates is the best right back we have and has been for a long time. However, there is a strong prejudice against him amongst some vocal supporters. Perhaps this is because he was not very good when he first came, and is one of the very few players who has improved during his stay at the Vale.
