Yates should be number one pick at right back, although we do need cover there. Why not try Nathan Smith who has looked very promising in central defence in pre-season.

Beauty of football - all about opinions. To me if we want to push on this season then we need to strengthen and right back is a must. Can't fault his effort but he ain't good enough.

Ideally you're probably right although it will probably end up one forward + a right back. With Popey still feeling his ankle we could become a bit toothless if he were to have a spell on the sidelines.

I've not seen it myself, but today's People is reporting that Jordan Slew will sign for Vale with Blackburn paying most of his wages. Hardly a surprise as its been rumoured for weeks.

His pro record is nothing to shout about - 5 goals in 56 games (including 18 sub appearances), including last season's return of 1 goal in 17 starts (plus 3 sub) at Ross County.

He was obviously a red-hot prospect as a youth player, but doesn't seem to have carried that on over the last 3 years. Maybe injuries have had a big impact on him, including a stress fracture to his back.

The question is, is he a better option than Williamson to be the number 2 striker behind Pope? - you would f-ing well hope so!

George Andrews has also tweeted that we are due to sign Slew on loan(I hope its before Tuesdays game).

Personally I think he could be just what we need,he cant be too shabby for Blackburn to pay over 1m for him not so long ago,if we can get him right supply him from midfield and our wingers then who knows he could just be a surprise package
