gills have listed whelpdale,lee,german and gregory,none of them would improve us, so it seems gills are panicking a bit.

 

Whelpdale always played well against us if we did get any spondulux we could do worse.

We don't need loan signings, we need Adams to back his judgement and let substantially the same starting eleven get to know each other become a team and after Christmas it will gel and we'll go on a decent run. A third of the first team is new after all.

We do need a defensive boost though as results show. Mate who follows Bury reckons some if their lot are on less than 30k a season and they weren't bad were they. There's a lot of players with no clubs who will play for **** all so let's get someone, and not on a shed load.

After orient game it just proves we need to sign defenders! Maybe an young player on loan from a premiership side, he'd probably be in experienced but he cant do no worse than at the minute, you see other teams picking up good young players! I know, Smurf it seems has made a mistake in not giving his side of the story on the ex-player association, however but for him its highly unlikely this club would be the success it is today.

 

He's increased our budget clearly and facilitated the signings of players to get us over the line last season, tried too hard to become friends and close to the fans (I think something he is now clearly stepping away from as it was never a great idea long term particularly with some short memories).

 

One thing I doubt is that Smurf would intentionally lie to us and I beleive he is being honest with us in that our budget is at a maximum in line with FFP so much of this thread is mute for that reason.

Some of the so called "Vale fans" these days are nothing short of a disgrace with very, very short memories.

If Micky and his scouting team had been more proactive, we could have signed Doumbe and others before we re-signed, and spent the budget on, players who aren't good enough for league one. Smurf can't be held responsible for that.

He had to put a squad together however and I would imagine Doumbe would be costing more than Chilvers for example which would have left us short in other areas.

 

We are certainly going to need a squad this season, not just 15-16 players, sure I read somewhere prior to the Orient game we had already utilised 18 players.

 

Don't remember too many people castigating his signings at the time, infact when Lines and then Dickinson signed there was almost mass hysteria and all too many suggesting we were in for play offs and more.
