Season Tickets: availability; prices

Trying to attract new fans but pricing them out of going, makes perfect sense!

Port Vale is a business not a charity. If people can't afford season tickets then that is sad but we can't price them so low that the club is not able to afford a competitive wage budget in League 1. If they were £100 you'd be complaining because they weren't £50. Stoke have sold 16,000 haven't they - yet their's are more expensive and you only get 19 games. Surely there is not a huge difference in the disposal income of Vale and Stoke fans??

great to all have our opinions.

But wasn't it our opinions (including mine) that charging full price for Northampton was too much?

Lets just let them get on with running the club successfully - what I have noticed is that opinion on OVF doesn't reflect the Vale fan base as a whole.

If I have a choice of paying bargain ST price and getting poor players and higher admission pices for a winning team I know what I would want.

For those who say cheap prices bring bigger crowds I think that the owners may have proved that charging reasonable prices may also fill the Vale. As long as what's on the pitch is successful.

£319 with voucher isn't to bad, but would have liked longer to purchase at this price than just upto the 17th May. really disappointed that the match day tickets have gone up.

That for me is a really, really decent price. I've anticipated this for a couple of months now so luckily will be able to purchase before the 17th.

Match day prices are a bit insane £20 should be anyones max - but they are too dear for most clubs now.

According to Wildes & Smurf these prices are going to give us the chance to compete at the top of the table, so on that basis i think the prices are excellent.

Look what happened at Chesterfield last season when they didn't invest, straight back down. Look at Shrewsbury this season, haven't invested, 4 points off relegation. Even Crewe, although they've had a few decent results they've struggled all in all. If wasn't for the loanee's ( Inman, Aneke etc) they'd be hovering just above the relegation zone too. I've been on their websites this season & all it's been is moan, moan moan. Not happy chappies any of them.

We don't want that do we? Wildes has said he want's to be around the playoffs, maybe promotion, transfer fees paid, bringing in players at the peak of their footballing careers. This sounds all to good to be true for me, but if by paying that little extra & going that extra mile helps us in our quest for back to back promotions then i'm quite happy to put my money in.

:micky:

£250 quid are you serious...

totally when you consider some premier league clubs are 300-400, i do agree that to be competitive we have to have prices reflecting this but you have to look at the big picture, fans havent been coming and complaining the pay on the gate is too dear, if £20 once every two weeks is pushing their budget, £319 is going to be out of their price range. You also have to take into consideration that should we have a poor season and finish near the bottom theres no way fans will renew the season after and again you start to lose business long term.

personally I would have made this year around £250 with the aim of finishing well in league 1 and attracting fans who have returned the last few weeks, at that point a competitive season in league 1 season would mean you could then put the season tickets upto 300 and potentially have grown or maintained the levels.

Good post and I, too feel that opinions on OVF have not reflected the total picture, whatever we talk about. There are a good number of posters on here who make a lot of sense but at the end of the day we only are a small percentage of the whole scenario.

How do you expect to finish well in league one without money to improve the team. We're in a league above, wages, signing on fees, police costs, they'll all rise. To simply stay in league one, an increased budget will be necessary. Where's this money going to come from if not ticket prices?

Perhaps its a tactic to convert more pay on the dayers to ST holders.;)

Every Premier League club could let their fans in for nothing and still make a profit. Vale, however, lives the real world so comparisons with the Premier League are irrelevant.
