Fritter lad thats **** on, he may have been a bit of a rogue but he was the best thing for our club for a long time. I very much doubt a certain other chairmans "tribute" would be anywhere near as nostalgic in such a good way. Well done.

Cheers for that. Again fantastic memories of days gone by. Can recall all those times standing in the open, freezing cold, soaking wet watching my beloved team. Different class now, sat in the Lorne street Stand in comfort and having decent loos and food supplies on tap.

I always remember when I went Cambridge away in the mid 90's on a snowy Tuesday night. Belly was hanging around outside the away end in the snow with few complementary tickets to give to any vale fans he saw. I always remember him for that, and it showed he did care about the fans.

Brilliant times and a worthy tribute to Bill, they paid tribute to him at Butters auction this morning saying that he pretty much furnished Vale park with auction items.

Just because he has died doesn't mean he goes from crook to saint. I still think he took more from the club than he put in and was very lucky he had a genius as a manager who perfectly played a transfer market that allowed teams like Vale to thrive. Presumably there will be a minute silence and while I will respect it i will probably be reading my programme while it happens.

Whilst you are sitting down, reading your programme, in our stadium, take a look around, indeed remember you are in a seat and then try to remember the absolute state of Vale Park on the day Bill Bell took over.

 

Quite frankly if messrs Wildes and Smurthwaite take out more than they put in but deliver Championship football, wembley visits, cup runs, giantkillings and memories that will live forever then i will be ecstatic.
