Disappointing pen by Tolaj.

I assume their keeper had done his homework on where he placed the last pen he took.

I was hoping Byers would hold onto the ball and take the pen himself.

Last pen he took against Walsall was in the opposite corner.

I hope Moore wasn't calling Tolaj out .

Our defensive work lost us that we were quite shambolic all afternoon

The 3 at the back worst defensive display of the season  at back doesn't help when young JS gives the opposition a leg up but he tends to be poor away ,fair enough in home games, he as done relatively well ,but away I wouldn't be playing the lad ,it's too much he is far too young to have the finger pointed at him

The second and third goal were plain diabolical slow defensive reactions especially from Smith Debrah and Hall ,very slow and very poor the second snd third goals were very avoidable .

Not to be Vale first title since 1958/59 in jeopardy

The big question mark for Monday is Garrity.  I suspect he won't be fit. Does Moore then go Byers, Walters and Croasdale? Problem is all 3 have spent most of their careers as holding midfield players. If not does he give the very out of favour Chislett a run? He's also played Harper in a more advanced role a couple of times.

I guess the other question is what to do a left wingback.  At home I'd stick with Shorrock,  if it was away I'd play Hart.

We need a win to set us up for the League 2 super Saturday.  I don't think we'll know the outcome of this topsy turvy league in 2 days time. Things were never as clear cut as many people were posting 2 days ago, nor as bleak as many were posting last night. At home I'm sure we will set up 30 metres further forward. We can't afford to drop as deep as we did for 40 percent of the game yesterday.  It is no easy game and we also need to keep the ball much better than yesterday.  I've always been more confident about this game than Carlisle,  which was always a massive banana skin in my mind.

Until the next one

going all the way I think

this isn’t going to be an easy game and they completely outplayed us away and even though they lost on Friday Artell is no mug at all and they will be very prepared

And?

There’s a set routine.

A player takes the ball so that any ‘housery’ is directed at them. The actual taker stands away.

At the last second the ball is handed to the actual taker. This would have been agreed upon.

Its nothing to do with Byers not taking control.

Tolaj scored a last minute penalty against Fleetwood. It happens sometimes. We don’t need someone to blame.

Blame squarely rested on the defence. They were all awful. It is painful to realise honestly now that we need defenders if we are to be promoted as Division 1 attackers will marmalise those that were chosen at Carlisle. Vale again looked quite a good side WHEN we eventually threw everyone forward so hopefully management may have seen and digested the evidence in front of them to give fans hope that for next season improvement is blatantly obvious in certain positions.  My ticker can't  handle much more upset or roller coaster emotion.

They will be up for it like Carlisle  were. they can still sneek into the playoffs.

I would play Rico

I’d make this as dull and controlled as possible. Really boring. Get the morons shouting FORWARD, GET EET FORWARD, BOO!

We don’t need an end to end, ‘good for the neutral’ affair. We need a dull, dry win that would effectively send us up.

We owe this lot one after that shocker we put in at their place. Also one of their players who was giving it mouth to the away end after their third goal would love to turn the tables on these and give them a bit of payback.

Shorrock had a bad day at the office yesterday but I think the best course of action is to show we have the confidence in him to bounce back in this one. Byers to start as well.

I genuinely think we got stage fright yesterday. We looked shadow of the sides from Crewe, Walsall, Bradford & Bromley.

Not on DM that, but as a collective never really worked Carlisle out.

In hindsight, you start with Hart and Byers, but how could Moore have possibly dropped Shorrock & Walters after last week?

I’m worried about this game. Garrity will be a huge miss if he’s injured. Byers the obvious replacement - but can Walters play more advanced?

Do we play Shorrock or Hart? If we’re losing a bit of creativity in midfield we need more attacking threat out wide.

I feel very uncomfortable about this game, again another banana skin. My worry is that we only get to 78 points (I sense two draws and a defeat) and am not sure that will be enough.

That was me yesterday.

Hughes, Artell and Ainsworth. Kind of ironic that these 3 could  well kybosh our season now. Frustrati g Vale, let's finish the job. Fans will be there so it's purely down to how the squad perform in the final 3 games. It's  ours , make it happen.

Shorrock ain’t good enough I know he’s scored 2gpod goals but his overall play ain’t good enough that’s why he’s subbed at half time Hart has to start also Byers and Curtis
