After a bit of a meltdown on Tuesday, I’m feeling a lot more positive now.

There’s still a lot of twists and turns to come before the end of the season, and I’m not fully convinced we’ll make the top three based on the past few months, but today was much better. Our press was on point, and we did a great job of isolating their patterns of play.

The return of Stockley and Garrity for the final ten games is huge. Both of them, when fit and available, are easily up there with the best in League Two, so keeping them in good shape is crucial.

A lot of good individual performances today, especially from Clark and John. They bring so much aggression and energy down the flanks, and that makes a big difference to our game.

No pressure, lads, but automatic promotion is there for the taking if we want it. Just win more games than anyone else in these last ten, and it’s ours – simple as that.

True, but I suspect Stockley needed to come off anyway. Jerry's best 20 for us today (clearing a very low bar).

I think Stockley was taken off as a precaution, no point endangering his back when the game was pretty much won. It was nice to see us start with Stockley instead of leaving him on the bench to bring on if necessary - Had we done that on Tuesday we may have got a better points return. Far better to start with him and get in front rather than have him come on when we are chasing the game.

He certainly is pivotal in my opinion going into the final stages of the season and if he can maintain his fitness we have a great chance.

Overall I thought that MK were woeful and although we seemed laboured early doors, the result was never really in doubt once we got the second. Defensively we looked really sound and Amos was rarely troubled, notice also that with Stockley up front there was very little pussy-footing around at the back and goal-kicks were being launched forward without this passing about inside our own penalty box.

I'm not going to focus on individuals, needless to say that everyone played their part today in a vital victory that must give everyone a tremendous lift. Eyebrows may have been raised when the starting 11 was named but each player was definitely 'up-for-it' today and it definitely banished my Tuesday night blues.

Onwards and upwards, well done today Vale - ten more games like that and we can hopefully look forward to a day out at the Community Stadium next season.

Oh, and, I was pretty critical of Curtis after the Swindon game last month, as I didn’t think he’d shown enough up to that point. But since then, he’s been a revelation. He’s the <ovf censored> we all love and need in the team, and he’s exactly the type of player all opposing fans love to hate. His reactions after each goal and then the way he was walking off the pitch at full-time were so refreshing. Honestly, you just can’t hate the guy when he shows that much devotion to Vale.

I don’t understand this ‘ we don’t look like a top 3 team ‘ stuff. Walsall haven’t won in 5 games. Bradford have dropped points recently & lost today albeit they were on a great run beforehand. And Doncaster who were 3rd before kick off today are really up & down. Nobody is exactly the stand out & it seems most of the top 1-9 are feeling the pressure of late. Colchester on a roll but will likely have a hiccup at some point along the way. Like you said last week we just need to get a few wins together. Perfect opportunity with Morecambe & Barrow to come next on home soil. Be interesting to see what a ‘ top 3 team ‘ looks like 🤷‍♂️

Only sour point of the day…

Section of fans still found the need to boo a kid when he comes and when he failed to be strong enough and lost the ball.

Would you boo your son or daughter if your son or daughter was still trying to adjust from junior football to an academy? No of course you wouldn’t!!!

Some fans are absolute mongs.

Some fans are absolute... what??!?!? What kind of term is that to use... you should both apologise for using that word and feel ashamed of yourself...in our family we have someone who has extreme learning difficulties, that word was used by them to mock him by ignorant bullies for a laugh... think about it.

Yes, everyone is tripping up at the moment.  Putting 3 wins together would likely be huge at this point of the season.

Nice to see this forum being a little more upbeat tonight.  We are still well in this and I'm planning on enjoying the ride.

More days like today would really help with that.

Some were going mental when we drew at Tranmere. Yes I was frustrated but I said before the game I’ll take a point especially as they’d just appointed Crosby & was fully expecting some sort of reaction from them. They’ve gone & won at Bradford today, the same Bradford that have just set an all time club record of 10 home wins on the bounce. Wimbledon now sit in 3rd place having only won 2 of their last 7 games. Teams around us are wobbling! Morecambe & Barrow are huge games. UTV
