Were Mk upto much, definitely not but we can only beat who’s in front of us so it would be nice to see us win & praise for the team & management rather than focusing on how bad the opposition were! We didn’t win yesterday because they were poor. We deserved it & after the result at Colchester I personally think it was a fantastic reaction. Not one of our goals come from them playing badly. Tolaj’s work rate & tenacity earned our 1st, the cross from Curtis the reasoning for the 2nd. You won’t see many better deliveries than that this season at this level & we completely calved them open for the last goal. A truly stunning goal from all involved Umolu, Curtis & captain Ben with a delightful finish. No need for any doom & gloom whatsoever after yesterday but I suppose there’ll always be some who just have to moan about something 🤣

Much better all around  team performance. The big difference for me is having 2 strikers on plus Curtis. Much more attacking intent. Obviously having Stockley back makes a physical difference upfront, seeing Ben back on the pitch was a big bonus, his goal the icing on the cake. Almost spoilt for choice for Man of the Match, John, Walters , Hennigan, Tolaj  but for me it was Curtis. Never stopped and was always a thorn in their side.

I thought MK Dons were OK and kept coming at us right to the end, and at 2-0 I wasnt relaxed. So after 36 games DM has learnt from the previous 35 that effectively 3 upfront is the real answer to our lack of goals, who would have thought it ?

We were fantastic yesterday. I have been critical of Moore’s style but if we play like that I have no problem with it.

MK Cons had to be the worst team I have seen down at Vale not just this season but for a long while. However it is up to us now to prove that the result was down to us and not them by continuing to press high, work hard, and play well when we get it. Keep that up and autos is still on.

Great performance and great result.

Made even sweeter by the fact their interim manager is Ben Gladwin who played for Swindon in the playoff loss to us.

If I remember right, was he the guy who was super disrespectful to the area and Gibbo called him out on Twitter and he <ovf censored> himself.

Wasnt he also the one who effectively gave our team talk for us by laughing and joking about how much better footballers they were than us after the first leg.

if it was him…. Hahahahahahaha

if it wasn’t… still Hahahahahahaha

I'm fairly sure it was Mathieu Baudry that slagged stoke off but like you say, any chance to get one over on any member of that squad is very rewarding.

The big positive for me yesterday is we’ve played so many teams this season who at full time I’ve been left frustrated thinking we should have got more out of that game. Bang average opponents but we’ve lacked energy, not created much or anything at all & failed to score. Yesterday we managed to create so much more than in those previous games, have lots of efforts. Hitting the target on 8 occasions resulting in 3 goals. It’s almost been unheard of this season for us. We got the attacking intent, front foot football & goals we’ve all been craving so let’s enjoy it guys. UTV

I remember a story about big Bob regarding words he had with Clive Allen (then top scorer in Division 1/Prem) in the tunnel before walking out for the FA cup win against Spurs. Not sure how true it is but watching him play I could certainly believe it, but it was along the lines of “ Hey Clive, I’m at the end of my football career, this afternoon I’ll be quite happy to bring yours to an end”. Don’t think Allen touched the ball all game.

Wasn't it Sproey who said out on the pitch "Chip him over here when you've finished with him Bob and let me have a go"....😂

IMO that is one of Vales best starting 11.. Add Garrity,Croasdale and Smith and keep them fit will do me. Walters looked fit and up for it. My POTS is Kyle John best signing since Garrity.
Keep going boys were on our way. UTV

I wonder why we were so attacking yesterday?

Was it something we did?

Were MK just so bad?

For us to have something like 13 shots at HT against anyone is bizarre - do any of the statto's out there know if we've done that at all under Moore?

Either way, I loved it! More of the same please!

Combination of, imo:

- Stockley playing and looking fit. He won most of his knockdowns which meant we could get from back to front rapidly

- Having three forwards instead of two. Tolaj and Curtis were getting close to Stockley so it looked like a front three instead of a lone striker

- MK were expansive and open. We look a bit ponderous against deep sides. They had a high line and loads of space between their lines. They were also really lazy without the ball

- Two midfielders who can pass a football. As good as Croasdale is, he's best without the ball.

I wonder why we were so attacking yesterday?

Obviously good scouting and planning. We knew they had no attack so we could play pushed up. We struggle against pressing teams so ideal team to play ( can we play you every week) [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

Few people quite noticeable with their absence on this thread. 🤔

outstanding result and performance yesterday. Just what we needed. Key players back to fitness and back in form at the business end of the season.

It’s in our own hands. We can do this.

Already looking forward to the Morecambe thread 😄 Nice to see some sunshine & daffodils on the forum I must admit 🙌🏻 Happy clapping this morning to the maximum 😂

I think Harper has had some good game, yes, he needs to work on his fitness and decision making but generally I don’t think he’s been a bad signing outside the transfer window, he is certainly an upgrade over Lowe who had a lot of game time earlier in the season. Saying that, Walters has cemented his place above Harper, come the end of season Lowe will be released and a decision needs to be made over Harper.

Only my opinion from what I have seen so far I wouldn't be offering a long term deal to Harper, there is a reason he didn't impress at at Burton and they thought an unknown had more potential. Also I am certain whatever league we are in there will be better midfielders available in the summer.

As for working on his fitness,he joined us on the 1st of November,if he isn't fit now then he never will be imo
