Today was exactly what Darren Moore's Port Vale should look like. Delighted with the result and performance, but a tad frustrated we aren't seeing this more regularly.

It combined the defensive resilience we've come to expect with some aggression and pressing, with an energetic front three combining excellently. Stockley, Tolaj, and Curtis were all physical, good in the air, and relentless. A very promising partnership is all stay fit.

It is clear that Stockley is fundamental. He allows us to go direct and push much higher. We can ping it from back to front and there's a 60% chance he knocks it down, meaning attacks start 30 yards from goal instead of 60. We saw far less of the CBs on the ball today. It begs the question as to why we've been rolling with only one target man all season as it's clear that Moore wants to build around one.

Was really impressed with Walters, who on numerous occasions glided past players. He's more of a ball-carrier than a ball player, but it's so useful to have a player who can pick it up deep and move it up the field. I felt he complimented Byers nicely, who again was quiet and tidy.

MK were diabolical. Open, knocking it around like an academy side, with absolutely no grit or battle. We made them look even worse, but they're already quite bad.

A lovely day overall. Bradford are slipping with their injuries and County seem to be collapsing. We still have 6/10 games at home where our form is much better recently. Garrity and Stockley simply need to stay fit. If we continue to employ a tad more aggression without the ball, and avoid the passive deep blocks of recent weeks, there's every chance we're celebrating in 10 games.

I like that, but i feel like we need a natural passer like Byers in there. But I'm not sure we have enough steel without Cros. Tough one.

Maybe it's a case of keeping a winning team?

Garrity has to play but I do feel Chizzy still has a big part to play this season. I seem to think his contract is up at the end of the season so he should be chomping at the bit for a new deal in L1 or to impress possible suitors.

It's nice to have that strength in depth now most of our players are fit again. Heaven forbid we get more injuries in midfield, but if we do, having a burgeoning Walters on the bench to get us up the field is great, and having Harper to sit deeper is fine by me too. Other teams will start losing players to injury and suspension, and if we have players coming back to fitness and with no impending suspensions, it's all good.  Nice to be able to rest Croasdale a bit too - he will be important in the run in.  Welcome back Ben - let's hope we get another three points on Tuesday to jump into the automatic spots.  The way the other results have gone today has me reaching for the single malt....UTV.

...and good luck to the Welsh bob sleighing team - let's hope they do better than their rugby team.

Agree he wasn't impressive; wandering offside and ambling around. He CAN move as he showed when he chased back one time.

I’m quick enough to jump on Jayden’s back for his lack of availability at times so I’ll give credit where it’s due. Considering he’s missed a fair chunk of games, all of pre season & the start of the campaign he now has 16 goal involvements! That’s a great return & as other’s have mentioned he’s such an important player for us. Please stay fit from now till May big man 🙏🏻 

Also well done to DM. He got it bang on today, vital minutes into Stockley & Garrity. A much needed rest for Croasdale & despite all the familiar 2pm groans, some justifiable it worked out pretty damn well in the end. KTF

He set up Garrity really well for his goal.
