Mad really, they averaged less than 1PPG (0.93PPG) which is relegation form in the last 15 matches.  (they lost their previous 2 before this table also).

In that last 13 since that table we've essentially averaged 1.92 to their 1.08 almost 1 PPG more.

Mad to look at it first 25 games they had 2.32PPG last 15 0.93PPG that is one massive drop off.

To visualize if Walsall kept their first 25 game form over a season they total 107 points, if they did their form last 15 over a season 43 points can't be many times such a long term swing in form has been observed as its not like its just a 6 game spell either. They've only picked up 1 more point than Carlisle in that 15 game spell. 1 of their 2 wins was against Morecambe with both goals after Morecambe lost a man to a red card on 50 minutes.

Last time I went there away fans (yes Vale fans mixing with Walsall fans - who would have thought it possible) were allowed into their social club at the ground.

Might well be different on Saturday though.

I think BHF heard their club boozer had shut, sad if so as they used to do hot beef baps and chips. Might  have got that wrong though, about the closing I mean, the beef baps were top notch.

I think Moore would argue his rotation policy has left us with a relatively fit squad at the business end of the season.  We are the only team in the top 6 in the top 6 of the form table.  I suspect that rotation is over for the season and he'll pick his best 11 from now on in. Walters in particular has complicated his job as he certainly wasn't in the best 11 at the season start. They also hoped Headley may be fit for the season end but John and Clark are both playing well.

Jessie Debrah may have the odd mistake in him but people underestimate the importance of his pace in allowing us to play a high line. There are very few centrehalves of his size and speed. He's developed a long way since we signed him.

Roy Sproson used to tell players to ignore the crowd as most knew very little about football and were idiots.  Ben Garrity could perhaps do with listening to this advice. He doesn't need to get involved with spats with fans, just focus on his football. Most fans appreciate him for the player he is.

25 points from 13 games is the best return and the average needed to get promotion IMO

I think there's been a few things that have contributed to our upturn in form - a change of formation to accommodate Garrity in his best role, less chopping and changing of personnel, playing two up front (and the return of Stockley), Walters coming in for the unimpressive Byers... However, another factor has been the recent fine form of Debrah. He's looked really good in the last few games and I really hope he can continue that form till the end of the season. He's got all the attributes to be a really good centre-half (and the added bonus of a long throw) he just needs to add that consistency now.

All the above, yes but I think the biggest upturn has been having Clark come back. He is the best wing back we have and great on both sides.

Today was talking to my Walsall mate about the game. When they played at our place I asked him what was their strength and he said playing the same team week in week out. Asked him how things were now and he highlighted the recall of Nathan Lowe to Stoke as the point where the wheels started to come off. Obviously like most other teams they have had their fair share of injuries but interestingly he said that continuing to field the same players was now taking its toll as they are cream crackered.

I agree with Lowe being the very obvious turning point. I did see some other Walsall debate on the drop off and around a similar time they lost Lowe they also lost/had injuries to two players they would often bring on in games, and not have a massive change in team shape / approach.

So not quite an impact to their starting 11, but part of what made 2024 Walsall so effective was their relentless press and energy. So think they are hampered by strength in depth and must be difficult to fling a load of jan signings into their team and expect instant results.
