Walsall v Port Vale match thread - 5th April

Featured Replies

Today was talking to my Walsall mate about the game. When they played at our place I asked him what was their strength and he said playing the same team week in week out. Asked him how things were now and he highlighted the recall of Nathan Lowe to Stoke as the point where the wheels started to come off. Obviously like most other teams they have had their fair share of injuries but interestingly he said that continuing to field the same players was now taking its toll as they are cream crackered.

Stoke Station might be interesting on Saturday morning with a sold out away support at Walsall and Preston.

Great, I'm going to Stafford to watch the match with a couple of walsallonians 🙈🙈

I hope we batter these. How awesome would it be if we could win all 3 of this weeks games. That would be absolutely brilliant. Also i cant stand walsall so it would be nice to win this 3-0 and ruin their automatic chances

bstards done us at ours to go top !! well brothers in arms  lets do them to go top !! again !!💪UTFV  proper justice methinks

I'd have snapped your hands off for 7 points after the Barrow game, but i want to batter these bastards now. Early kick off, so win and we go top. Even if we didn't win the league in the end, how nice would be it be for a couple of hours of rubbing their yamyam noses in it.

About time we beat them. Go for it from the start, win it by half time, like we did against Bradford.

Any pre match watering hole recommendations please🍺🍺🍺

If you are early enough the hotel next to the ground serves away fans or certainly used to. Walsall is not a good ground for pubs nearby.

Yes, but Vale do have a habit of gifting clubs.

I don’t think a draw is particularly a great result, after our last 2 games this is a game we should be looking to win.

Walsall have only won 2 in 15 (v Morecambe and Chesterfield) all be it only lost 5 of those so in the last 1/3 of the season they've been bottom 6 in the league so have to go there and be positive really. It is one where our centre halves will need to be on it against Jamile Matt and Harrison who are both good aerially but its certainly winnable, we could do with something after Notts won last night as defeat could see us back in 5th come close of play and despite the great form it will knock us a bit (defeat probably ends any title hopes).

A draw isn't the end of the world but a win here would be monumental for any promotion hopes and set up a massive home game against Bromley at a £10 a ticket so hopefully would have VP packed and bouncing and potentially mean we'd only need 2 wins and maybe a draw from our last 5 games.

Be wary of them, they are top for a reason over the season but certainly don't be negative and be positive, take the momentum and buzz from Tuesday into this.

Last time I went there away fans (yes Vale fans mixing with Walsall fans - who would have thought it possible) were allowed into their social club at the ground.

Might well be different on Saturday though.
