Bank Holiday,  so double time AND a day of in lieu.

Sadly those days have passed, just time and a half now...

We will be playing three at the back lads. Moore played a variant of 3 CBs (either 3421, 3412, or 352) 40 times in League 1 when they got 98 points, using 2 CBs only 6 times. The fact he has gone into this season doing the same, despite the number of attackers we've got to keep happy, is telling.

I don't think the lack of chance creation is anything to do with the formation. I think Byers is going to have to start in order for us to move the ball through the middle a bit better. We need to get Garrity running beyond Paton. I think there's some potential in playing Chislett deeper but unsure if we'll risk it.

What I think Moore will do:

Debrah Heneghan Smith (assuming Hall and Hart out)

Sang Byers Croasdale John

Garrity Curtis

Paton

Sad to see.

Hall should be back surely if 50-50 for last weekend?

I think we need to play ideally 3 central midfielders ideally with the squad we have, but at home especially not convinced we need to play 2 holding ones, I still think ideally you have Ojo or Croasdale as your holding midfielder and Byers and Garrity more attacking if we persist with one up top.

The issue is similar with England though where we need to not try and shoehorn players in but play the strongest squad to a formation even if it means leaving a Garrity or Chislett out for example. Garrity is a poorer holding midfielder than say Ojo so if playing that formation stick with the best XI in each position.

Playing a better team with fewer fit defenders. What could go wrong?

Bottom line is this and it's worrying tactically. Would any other club in this league play Ben Garrity in a defensive midfield position? Got 10/5 goals in him as support centrally to  any striker or combination of strikers we have. I'd start Smith ahead of Debrah. Who plays either full-back is anyones guess if hart is out. Don't play 5 at the back and 1 up top with all this attacking talent. It's OK if you have Porro or Trent - we don't. Tactically poor imo

Oldham did. That's why he wasn't rated at all by their fans!

Why not just play with one defender .

Go for it Henegan then play anyone who can travel with the ball at speed .

Not long now first home game for me new Vale top on just swapped me shift so don't have work Fri night so be fresh encourage the Vale to a thumping 4-1 victory

Paton 2 Curtis 1 and Henegan from a beautiful set piece

Exactly so no point playing Garrity if not in the correct position (i'd rather he played than not) but if a holding midfielder it has to be Croasdale or Ojo in those positions, maybe Grant as back up.

Just like to see us put 4 past them in the second half after being 0/0 at half time.
Literally is never gonna happen.
Ben pushed up? Get at them from the kick off? Paton has support? 17/18 yr olds played in their proper positions? No hoof ball?
Highly unlikely, love to be proved wrong tho, just once, please just once.

Scouting mission tonight for anyone with Sky+. Donny at Everton.

If we have to go 3 at the back I'd go;

Deborah/Smith  Heneghan John

    Sang Croasdale Byers Curtis

                Garrity

          Paton Stockley

Subs Williams BBB Smith/Deborah  Chislett Tolaj Plant Amos.

Assuming Hall & Hart are injured.

Wouldn’t be surprised if McCann plays the kids tonight and saves his first choices for the more difficult game on Saturday 😉.  Seriously it will be interesting to see what team he does select since might give us some insight or even none at all to how they’ll line-up and/or play on Saturday. Will he play Molyneux, Biggins and Ironside who have all played higher than L2 and obviously theres’s  Billy Sharp too but doubt he’s got the fitness to play 3 times in a week etc…?

We all thought we got an insight into Barrow at the cup game, whilst they'd didn't learn much about us - that worked well.
