I’m sure this is not the first time it’s been suggested but would having a fan rep/director or two on the board be a way forward to rebuild fan relationships with the owners? Who that might be would be the challenge- elected by 1876 club and season ticket holders (ie club ‘members’) perhaps with annual/seasonal elections? Get the impression our CEO may be up for it but don’t know if anyone else currently on the board would be.

Found this posed by an Everton fan group a few years ago. Food for thought?

Excellent idea, but how many directors as quoted in the article do we have?

Despondency, (That we had to watch this team each match)

Hopelessness, (That there is no hope left that they will improve)

Sadness, (That it all had to come to this after Wembley)

Misery, (Knowing that there is not just a mountain to climb again but that the mountain will be much higher with any of these donkeys in the pack)

Unhappiness, (Caused by C Shanahan’s letter and the poor recruitment regime out of 2 seasons)

Gloom, (That will prevail until a chink of hope begins to shine through in the distant future, hopefully, maybe)

Joylessness, (Watching this team maybe next year)

Discouragement, (This a given to purchase any match tickets or season tickets until the whole top to bottom has been raked clear and a new and encouraging team of management and players are in place)

Don’t hold your breath, the future ain’t too bright at the moment, baring thousands spent on quality.

And the music to play, last Match baring a miracle: Tragedy,by The BeeGees.

Maybe Patrick can put "Despondency, Hopelessness, Sadness, Misery, Unhappiness, Gloom, Joylessness, Discouragement" onto the back of the shirts next season rather than "Want. Need. Expect"

Great suggestion but is it not in place already via the Port Vale Supporters Club. If it isn't it should be and my vote would be to do this via The Chairman of the Port Vale Supporters Club and one or two of the Supporters Club committee if there is one.

Yes, The SC has a committee of around 12.

Back under V2001, we had a ‘sub board’ exactly like that described in that article. It consisted of a couple of original V2001 steering group members, 2 SC reps, a couple of VaST reps (I was one), a couple from the ex-players association and a couple of others. It later morphed into the Port Vale Volunteers’ Group, and I was secretary for several years.

It had some relative success actually, not least because it brought together fans’ groups that, at that time, had some awful relations with each other. The politics back in those days were horrendous.

Now, we only have the Supporters’ Club, that recently became a trust, then North London Valiants and Super Vale Abroad, that both have links with the SC. Thankfully there are no warring factions anymore amongst fans’ groups.

And the message that we are <ovf censored> and need improving quickly is well embedded into the club from same groups?

There are 3 letters needed extra on the back of this seasons shirt.

To be placed between and after the WNE .

They are AKR.

As you say, mistakes happen, and can be forgiven.  But what’s to forgive?  An error of judgment.  So what do you want?  Some sort of grovelling apology for that?  Why not simply let the club have their inquest, as per Matt Hancock, and state their findings.  Discuss.  Move forward.  End of.

Ray you are barred. Far to many sensible posts for OVF.

Sending the letter out skating the fans deserves an apology

The transfer windows

The appointment of Flitcroft

Saying the players are phenomenal

The El Presidente fiasco

All mistakes under Carols watch

And this without mentioning the football

Moving from the Bycars to the Hamil.? changing pie manufacturer. Not employing an experienced CEO. Seems like everything is done Carols way with no thought process, experience or knowledge. As I’ve previously stated she needs to start interacting with the fans and I don’t mean paying them a lip service. It’s the fans who own the club all but in name. If she feels to do this is below her, then careful consideration should be given by regarding her position and selling the club. For me Carol has to be proactive in the summer transfer window and the team not to start entertaining the fans in the pitch. If there are no signs of either of these things by Christmas, then she definitely has to sell the club. Personally I don’t believe that the lady is for turning. So I’d like her to prove me and others of the same opinion, who are members of the Port Vale family, wrong.

She just needs to start making some better decisions. She doesn’t owe us anything - on that logic, we owed her something after Wembley. It’s just not how it works.

I genuinely couldn’t care less about apologies or plans. Just win games of football next season.

A very short “we got it wrong, we should have listened, we’ll work to out it right” might buy them breathing space.

We really don’t need chapter and verse. Carol has a habit of saying things which get quoted back, out of context, for years to come as a stick to beat her with. Say very little, leave communicating over the summer to Hancock, go on holidays for a fortnight and relax. She’s probably lived Port Vale to a far greater extent than all of us for the past 18 months - and we can all attest to how damaging it’s been for us.

I really don’t want Carol panicking about appeasing the fanbase, promising us the world, and then making poor short-term decisions which come back to bite her.

When I post it is to offer an opinion or debate someone else's.

Carol did save the club but it appears as though she can do no wrong in her eyes. The silence is deafening.

I've been a Season Ticket holder on and off, contributed to Black and Gold financially and been watching Vale for over 50 years.

I won't be buying season tickets for my son and I because the team have lost 25 out of 45 home games and I've enjoyed less than 10 games.

Your home games are your bread and butter. A chance to attract the next generation.

The process seems to be to blood youngsters/sell players out of the academy. It isn't working.

I'm sure if you looked at every club in the league, all 92,there isn't one of them where all bar 3 players, are under contract next season. Absolute madness. Why bust a gut...simply remain injured ...you're getting paid next season too.

All under Carol's watch.
