Certainly made a profit.

Shankland would have had a good career but for dodgy ankles. Played a reasonable number of games between injuries.

Does anybody remember a young lad called  David Mitchell who i thought would have made a cracking centre forward only played a few games then had a bad injury.Another two names that i liked watching were Lee Harwood big lad in our defence and John Rodgers who was a quick centre forward had a cracking game at villa park both of them young players who could have served us well for a few seasons.

Lee Harwood was fantastic when McGrath brought him in. I think he got a knee injury. Similar age to Phil Sproson but was even better.

Wasn't it Rich Mitchell,son of Dave? Brian Mills was another who'd have gone on to be good. Lee Harwood was brought in by big John. Good ball playing centre half.

I remember a girl telling me once she got chatted up once at Sammi Belles 'I'm Lee Harwood,  I play for Port Vale' she replied 'my dad used to play for Port Vale' , Lee said 'when was that' , 'when they were good' she replied

I've done my best to forget him over the years but he keeps coming back to haunt me like Banquo's Ghost. It's a special sort of PVFC PTSD. Mentally scarred for life - I can no longer relax when we're three or four up, it has to be 5 or 6 or 7 - and even then......

Most forgotten players I find are from that first Adams league 2 era when we didn’t do much and played appallingly. People like Tommy Fraser, who actually captained the side, are completely unrecalled despite being relatively recent history. Probably because he was rubbish
