Very good interview from flitcroft by baggers 👍

Really enjoyed reading it.

Some stuff I completely agree with, some stuff I think is a load of rubbish.

Can't knock the attempt to explain where we are but I'm still a bit unconvinced by his certainty that the performances on the right path and his reasoning on the lack of strikers (they're expensive) ignores the fact that these expensive strikers he quotes (May, Piggott, JCH) were once scouted and signed for cheap, which we can do as well.

I want to believe in a world where Port Vale are a possession-based, academy-driven club with progressive managers and a clever utilisation of data, but right now I'm struggling to see it.

At the time of this poll, I voted yes. I would like to change that, since the Shrewsbury game, to no in Crosby. At the time, we were playing some nice football and I was sure we would turn it around. Since then, we haven’t and the football has gotten worse. It’s now painful to watch how clueless we are up front.

Not sure how I feel about DF

Are we going to keep doing polls until we get one where the majority vote Crosby out ?
It's a bit like a Scottish Independence Referendum this !

Scottish referendum was supposed to be once in a generation vote. With the Vale it’s twice a season 😉

The thing is that we'll win today.

It will be a bit annoying on here, as those who never ever believe in sacking managers will wheel away in jubilation, their worldview now justified by a 1-0 win against a very poor side, and those who want to see Crosby gone at all costs will attempt to shut it down.

My view is that there are far deeper questions to ask as to why we've been absolutely rubbish throughout 2023. Crosby quite obviously isn't the man for the long-term but could probably limp through the season to a bottom half finish if things improve a bit, which they probably will.

I think getting obsessed over the ins and out of Andy Crosby's tenure ignores the fact that 2 years of upward progress has nosedived in 2023 and no one at the club has seemed to acknowledge it happening, let alone diagnose why.

We have been record-breakingly poor, with a 7-0 defeat and a scoreless run half an hour away from breaking the club's 100 year old record, but a good patch in the middle of it in August-September of 1-goal victories built upon deflections and penalties has masked it.

We have 33 points from 40 games this year, which would average out at 38 points over a 46 game season - easily enough to relegate us every single season in recent League 1 history. Flitcroft asserts that we have a lower mid-table budget, have brilliant links with the big academies, and have spent loads on the T-Zone, the pitch, the stadium, and the recruitment - so why on earth are we returning relegation points?

That's the debate for when Crosby does go. Is he just incredibly incompetent, or is the club in a deeper bad place which needs more root and branch change? It's just not adding up at present for me.

Do people want a thread? I'm happy to do one no matter what the results are but I don't want to flood the message board. Equally, I don't want to be seen as shying away from it because we won today.

If we don't do one now, I won't do one next week if we lose also...
