January Transfers and Rumours

I'd like to see Sang in the middle myself, in his proper position; but agree an extra head with some quality wouldn't go amiss with them pair out for the next month or so. Arguably been our best 2 x players this season.

Everyone has an opinion on Crosby but it's pretty clear to me that he is an unlucky manager. I know ppl say you make your own luck, but for them pair to both pick up injuries around a busy Xmas schedule really is rotten. Just as Wilson is coming back as well. I'm not sure he's ever played his best 11, & if he has it's only been a couple of times max.

I'm pretty neutral on Sang. He's played a couple of times in central midfield and not really been more than functional at best. Certainly some was below Arblaster and Ojo. I agree that Crosby has been unfortunate with injuries.  Put Arblaster and Ojo on the field yesterday and I think we would have won.

I think there’s going to be quite a lot of movement in January. The disappearance of Conlon and Cass from the squad recently probably means both are off, maybe at the start of the window.  Personally I'd have had Conlon on the bench yesterday unless there was a chance to ship him out. Don't expect anything more than nominal fees for either. We obviously want a forward, left wingback and probably a centre midfield player as a minimum. More if any loan players get recalled.

I agree with a lot of what you say . However I honestly don't think he knows his best X1.

He's tinkered all season long even with everybody available. So that's personal choice by him. Not bad luck.

We had awful luck in 21/22 losing Wilson, Proctor and Conlon for lengthy periods. Yet still went up.

He's caused his own misfortune with baffling team selection and square pegs in round holes.

Blackpool have Jordan Rhodes (on loan ‘til end of the season) who’s already scoring pretty regularly in their formation so not sure what Clarke-Harris would give them unless they’re looking to change tactics or concerned Huddersfield will want Rhodes back next month.

According to Alan Nixon,Darren Moore is keen to have Rhodes back at Huddersfield by using the 'review clause' early in the window.

According to Alan Nixon,Sheff.Utd are starting talks with 14 players who can leave at the end of their contracts next summer.Striker Daniel Jebbison is likely to move on and they are expecting their loan players to return.I believe we've been interested in Jebbison before?

How can people say Crosby is unlucky when he keeps signing injury prone players then wondering why they get injured?

Is it also unlucky to keep targeting Championship strikers then wondering why we miss out?

Or unlucky to keep playing players out of position?

Unlucky to keep trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results?

I really wanted him to do well but I'm afraid he's just not a good fit for us as manager.

Thing is, we can only sign players who want to sign for us on the terms we offer.

That's why IF the club are adamant on keeping AC then they have got to back him massively in January and not just with young kids on loan,we need some experience in as well. I can see Thomas going back so i would try to get another one in on loan(young) as well as a striker who we know can hit the net but having said that AC has to play them

Dipepa certainly looks like one who will break through properly over the next season or two

I think Jebbison is a realistic target for us. At the point in his career when he needs to be playing and did well in league 1 at Burton. Crosby still has contacts at Sheffield. I'd be surprised if we haven't made enquiries about a loan. I think bigger clubs would be in for him as a transfer, so any fee would be out of our price range. Whether he's available on loan would depend on him extending his Sheffield contract.

We are not going to have Uche, Loft, Wilson, a youngster and another experienced striker on the books at the same time.

From the Stokinel, what Schumacher spent last year. Sobering stuff for a Vale fan. Reading this, I reckon the Vale do very well, punching above their weight! Screenshot_20231226_094428.jpg

Stoke's new manager won League One on 101 points last season with a quarter of the budget of some other clubs, so therefore we're doing well?...

Not what I said nor what I was 8nferring.  I was suggesting that given our modest budget, possibly half Plymouth's last year, and around a tenth of that of Ipswich, maybe we are doing quite well to be battling along in the lower reaches of L1?

Also, when people start comparing us to other clubs, maybe they should also compare budgets before having a moan!

Peterborough released their accounts on Friday ... their wage budget was 9 million. That includes support staff but is way in excess of our resources. It's easy to pick names we could sign; much harder to pick players we can afford to sign.
