Luke Armstrong to Carlisle.

I believe this was who we were after for £150k in the summer, but Harrogate wanted £500k!

Gamble though, well over priced and hasn't done anything at this level and has a modest history when in L2.

We seem to be able to score goals now. Our issue is letting fewer in. We may be challenged in midfield / forward line if Blaster / Devine are recalled in Jan.

Clearly our problems were scoring goals. It had two parts in players were not scoring and the manager didn't seem to know how to set up the attacking half of the team. But I think for a club like us it's very risky to spend more to bring in a lower league striker. None of them are much good across career. If they were they would be playing for a bigger club / higher level.

I liked him a lot in L2, but not for £150k, and definitely not for £500k!

Reminds me of Jordan Hugill in the way he's physical and puts himself about.

Wonder what Carlisle have paid? Didn't think they'd have any sort of cash!

I don't think she'll ever make a profit on us - she'd have to sell for £10m+.

Maybe she should threaten to put the club in admin…Smurfwaite certainly made a few quid out of that random/hostage demand.

Just had a takeover and are expecting to splash the cash a bit now.

Signed on time to score past us on New year's Day then

I don’t think they’d be able to register him in time when the window opens to play that day even if the deal is all set up.

Only Ripley, Blaster and Devine are good enough to play at Championship level by say next season. Two on loan to us. So only Ripley.

We can't get there from here. Radical improvement in attendances and off field income needed to get to and remain in the Championship.

I never mentioned getting there this season, or even next. I would say Ojo is good enough too, and we would probably get loanees of at least the same quality as Devine and the Blaster. But, the assumption appeared to be that carol would never make a profit on the vale as we have reached our level - which i don't believe to be true?

To be honest it doesn't have to be a world beater or even a great finisher but someone who has that knack of knowing which positions to be in would have had a hatrick of tap ins on Saturday. Someone who has scored consistently at a lower level would be worth a point because this team will create chances on a plate for someone like that.

Kellor-Dunn?

I think something we will have to get used to with changing lots of players and using high quantity loan players is time to gel. Boro last season were in the POs using 4 loan players, but they struggled this season to reach the same standard, hopefully for another game.

The lowest supported team in the Championship is Rotherham on circa 10k. Then step up to Blackburn on 15.5k. Stoke are 11th on 22.4k. We go to the top which is Sunderland on 40.8k.

Plymouth are on 16.3k and competing in the lower half. I know away fans attending is consistently higher, but we would need VP full every week.

The other factor here is that the teams in the Championship already have Championship players. We don't, so we would need to buy them and develop them.

I agree Ojo was a Championship level player, but he's at VP to see out his career. The trade is his experience. However, there can be Championship players at PV hiding in plain sight. If Championship players were brought in there are younger players at PV who would develop to their standard quickly.

I suppose the one good thing about January is we haven't got a particularly big squad (I make it 24 players with Walters) so it feels like there's plenty of wiggle room to bring players in if the budgets available.

Unfortunately you've got someone in charge of that budget who's consistently proven he struggles to spot league one players. Fingers crossed we don't have a repeat of last January's debacle.
