Also, not seen it mentioned anywhere (even by the club) but Jack Shorrock has joined Stafford Rangers for a few weeks.

He was a first team squad player according to flickers! Another poor judgment, we've got a few great signings right this last window but some of the recruitment has been poor & beggars belief

Interesting that there's been no football fans forum for a while.

We need players in the first day the window open but pretty sure we will wait until the last few hours and get what dregs are left !

Not been reported anywhere I don't think, but McDermott is back at Vale now.

Was this only a 1 month loan? Or has he been sent back?

Can't see if he's played much.

Danger of him drifting into obscurity.

Struggling to see your objections to this loan move?  He's going to get good game time and experience for a few weeks.  Obviously what he needs.

nothing against his loan move it's what he needs & will do him bags of good. My point being, the reason we didn't bring another lwb in apart from Grant who's hardly been fit & hasn't impressed when he has played is because Flitcroft said Shorrock was going to be part of the first team plans & back up for Grant. Shambles really when he's off to play for Stafford Rangers! Benning wasn't good enough but i'd rather have him as back up & not having to play attacking midfielders in wing back positions.

He started one game and scored, got some time off the bench in other games.

The reason we didn't sign a leftback was we couldn't afford to match Denver Hume's Portsmouth wages and Portsmouth weren't prepared to give him a large enough payout to compensate him for the difference. Portsmouth probably should have got him off their budget as they've ended up paying all his wages for 4 months and not playing won't have increased interest in him during January. It remains to be seen if that deal gets resurrected.  I don’t think Plant has done worse in that role than Benning normally did. Being left footed Benning would probably have made us a little more balanced.

Flitcroft definitely come out & said Shorrock will be part of the first team plans this season, Plant is being hung to dry in that position he's not a bloody wing back albeit he's done ok at times

I dont think the statement named any specific player just that we had young players coming through so he could of being actually referencing Plant?

which is crazy in itself. Plant is wasted in that position & shorrock is nowhere near good enough hence why he's at stafford rangers.

Probably doesn’t suit our system but seems Charlton making a headstart on a clear out for January

I’ve posted many times in other windows about Charlie Kirk. He’s a quality player at this level and I think he would suit our play very well.

He would certainly make us look more threatening.

Plant isn't wasted in that position as he is neither a clear first choice as one of the 2 10s or at right wingback.  If we'd signed Hume Plant would have relatively little first team experience. Plant has decent pace (not express pace), runs aggressively (though often unsuccessfully) and is prepared to get stuck in. Against that his distribution is often wayward and he lacks the quick feet of someone like Chisslet or Arblaster.  The argument is he is unsuited to the role as he is very one footed, which is his right foot. The positive is he's gained a lot more experience than he would have if a gap hadn't opened up for him to fill. He's also become a little more two footed over the course of this season,  which will be good for him going forward.
