Splitting hairs on "sneaky" & "cheating" methinks!

Not at all. Cheating means breaking the laws like using sandpaper to rough up the ball (not that anyone would consider such actions to be appropriate in a Test Match) Sneaky means using the laws in an unsportsmanlike manner.

I think it’s well within the Aussi capability for the wicket keeper to both use sandpaper and then throw the ball at the stumps ,just in case it needs a bit of swing.I was at a cricket match last.Exactly the same type of incident. The umpire gave not out.”Well done umpire “was the cry.

Blimey, you're now getting into a whole new philosophical discussion about the 'spirit of sport' but unfortunately, you're convoluting the laws of sport and what's best practice and this is truly a Pandora's box of subjective views & opinions that will produce many nuanced views!

Once the Aussies' had appealed, the umpires had no course of action other than to follow the laws of cricket and give Bairstow out.

Wood, Woakes and Moeen back into the team for this one for Anderson, Tongue and Pope. Very happy Wood is in the team, get those Aussies hopping with his pace. Tongue did well last test but presumably he’s rested with Old Trafford in mind.

Bit more unsure how I feel about Brook batting at 3 in this one though.

Delighted to see Wood in, for me Tongue should have kept his place as well but I think England see it as wood or tongue.

For me Woakes is in there because of popes injury just to add to the batting a bit. Brook is good enough to play 3, I think he’s fantastic and will be up there with Root one day, but he has to play properly, he is good enough to hit runs without being stupid.

For me though, Foakes should have been called up, put bairstow to 3 and foakes to 7 and keep. Don’t think we need Ali really, Root isn’t too far behind him as a spin option.

Looking forward to some 95mph stuff from Wood

Unfortunately I think once they had appealed, the umpire has to give it out. It’s then up to Cummins to be sporting / fair and not claim the wicket. Think it’s a rule that should be changed though, don’t understand how it’s essentially up to the fielding side to decide when the ball is dead.

Not so sure about Brook but I'd be throwing at the stumps after every delivery that goes to the WK just to prove a point.

And if catches are taken, hold the ball high in the air,not slide it face down on the grass..just to prove a point.

I see McGrath has been spouting his mouth off again about how casual the England team have been.

When he's quiting what the laws of the game are,he says it should be different for "low" catches. What a tool

He's turning into as popular a person as Trevor Chappell

Why oh why haven’t we picked Foakes. Bairstow is hopeless. Smith and Head dropped now off Robinson and wood should be 80-5

Can’t disagree, Foakes at least takes some of these and we are talking about a series lead.

On a positive note Smith now gone anyway.
