Cheered me up on a cold day at work!

Jacko's comment is spot on - but it doesn't cheer me up (with no offence to WV) - because it shows the extent to which these 'big' clubs depend on owners with bottomless pockets and questionable morals.

Football is riddled with people with questionable morals.  You just have to look at recent Vale history to see that.

Messi has given immense enjoyment to fans of all teams for 18 years. I used to watch La Liga regularly in order to watch Messi. I spent a lot of money for myself and other family members to watch him in the Nou Camp from the best seats on my 60th birthday. I am just so very pleased he has won the World Cup with Argentina. And it was an epic game.

Can’t say I’m pleased for Argentina to win the World Cup. The way they behaved in the semi, the songs about falklands and the way the keeper acted after the shootout make me wish France had annihilated them. And I didn’t particularly want France to win it either. A game where I wanted both teams to lose.

England won the fair play trophy. Am I in admiration of that? Our elimination was due to Kane missing a penalty and Stones being beaten in the air by Pope 2. I guess therefore it didn't undermine our chances. But being too choirboy generally doesn't win me thinks. I guess having too many players ruled out of the next game with yellow cards doesn't win either. I fancy we were a bit careful because Southgate realises our squad depth isn't so deep as we think measured against the best.

"Keep this thought handy when you feel a fit of rage coming on. It isn't manly to be enraged. Rather, gentleness and civility are more human, and therefore more manlier. A real man doesn't give way to anger and discontent, and such a person has strength, courage and endurance - unlike the angry and complaining. The nearer a man comes to a calm mind, the closer he is to strength".

Not happy with the handball ruling! Not sure that France's second penalty was a penalty. Seems like a ruling that needs reviewing.

Not sure any of the 3 penalties given were deserved myself.  First 2 they went down with minimal contact ( the French one, he took his arm off him b4 he went down ) 3rd one he had his back to the ball, arm not flung out for me.

Had the officials been told that they must not book Messi. Got away with a couple of unpleasant challenges last night that others would have been booked for.  And why was he wearing a negligee for the presentation - is he a cross dresser on the quiet??

The Arab dudes who paid for the World Cup insisted he wear a traditional item of their clothing.

I thought they made a clear choice to have a commercial context to the trophy awards. Qatar Airlines hostesses in the full airline uniforms in the background. No women in the burka etc. Few Arab men in their dress. Only one infantino on stage. Anyway puns aside I thought it went surprisingly well.
