Ironically, I thought the USA caused us more problems than France. They basically had 2 moments of quality....a speculative shot from 25-30 yards that he struck really well and a great ball in by Griezman that was very difficult to defend. Other than the chance for Giroud just before that I can’t remember any other time they threatened.

It was one of those nights where the key moments just go against you. We've seen Vale outplay teams and lose but equally play crap and win. If the French would have lost I think they would have been slated for how poor they were. There is some criticism of Southgate because when we were on top second half he should have made attacking changes to try and score 2 or 3 to take the game away from them. I do agree that he is over cautious at times.

Unfortunately in knockout tournaments there are no second chances. As I said, Play that game again 10 times and we win the majority.

The Southgate naysayers will see he is too negative. We scored 13 goals from 5 games

Very harsh to give the penalty but ultimately there was some horrific defending for the first 2 goals.

Just finished FIFA Uncovered on Netflix ............It's left me even more disinterested in the World Cup as a competition.

Sadly it almost seems harsh to single out FIFA in my opinion. I just feel it’s inevitable that any organisation, from the largest to the smallest, where there is the opportunity to make money and/or gain influence you will find corruption at some level.  Not a day passes without something being reported in the press.  To be clear I’m not condoning this, rather it’s resignation, my assumption is always that the whole shabang is a crock of <ovf censored>.

Interesting that if France win today the Final in Qatar will see Mbappe v Messi, two PSG players. That’s PSG owned by the Qataris. A coincidence or what??

It's the Qatari link that's the interesting bit...particularly how you consider how they got the tournament in the first place.
