Match Thread: Port Vale v Bolton Wanderers

Featured Replies

Back to the John Askey formation then .. to be fair always brought us joy against the more fancied sides who attacked us . Can see us picking up the points at home against sides where we aren’t expected to win ...

to expect us to win all 3 games against the sides down around us is unrealistic...(Grimsby, Colchester, barrow)

We need the odd shock result starting Saturday !

Smith up front. Plenty of history of conversions of that nature producing winners.

Rodney must play if fit.  He caused them all sorts of problems in the last game.

Is he as fit as he was then, after effects of Covid ?

Don’t understand this negativity, we hit these for 6 last time under askey
And they'll be up for revenge for sure.

Professional pride. Extra motivation.

3-1 defeat.

I am expecting a tough game as Bolton are on the up and we have yet to turn the corner, if we can create chances like we did against Oldham and be a bit more ruthless who knows,  one thing is for certain that any team can be beaten just hope our luck changes.

Interesting point from last night Clarke saying he prefers 2 upfront, Swann and Rodney ?

Always concerned at the moment! Very pleased with the effort against Oldham just hope we can continue with this kind of display. Hate watching the game from behind the sofa with head in hands! Anyways out with the prayer mat and trust we can get something from this game.

I think we’ll be high tempo and look to disrupt with good energy. Come on Vale there’s no-one in this league to fear and historically we do better against high flying teams.

Great to have Dave Worrall back in the team as he should/will make a big difference up front. I personally hope Jake Taylor gets a start as he has quality and can score from inside or outside the box.

By the law of averages Vale have to start getting the run of the ball at some point, during some of the last ca 6 games it's been bordering on the cruel.

Keep Doyle and Sarcevic quiet and we should be OK.

They aren't beating anybody convincingly ( in terms of goals ) so I'm going for a 2-0

2-0 to us?

As in we will win?

As in we will score 2 goals?

As in we won't concede?
