Match Thread: Port Vale v Bolton Wanderers

Featured Replies

Play  against the Trotters as we attacked against the Latics and have the chance of a half dozen? No doubt they will arrive basking in their Play-Off position, thirsting for revenge for the previous 6 conceded.  Last time they had won 4 games on the trot, this time 8 wins and 2 draws in the last 10 games. Thus a very tough game, any chance of a cameo from Monty, extra ideas from Crosby showing us the way to the net?

0-3 Doyle bound to score

Sorry but I'm having the life sucked out of me.

3 homes without scoring. This is looking like Michael Brown part two where we couldn't score in 8 of our last 10 games.

They will be looking for revenge from last time. I can't see us getting anything from it

5-0 Bolton

Glad it's not just me who feels like this. This is the worse I've seen us since the Glover days.

Alex Jones signed with Northampton last week and scored on his debut.  Should we have signed him in January?

no

Guthrie to get a hat trick if he plays and Crooksie might bang a thunderbolt in ! 4-1

Green shoots of improvement against Oldham in a far improved performance... our weakness is clear to see.

Taking the same approach against Bolton would be suicide... Back to 5 at the back for me and hope Wozza can be a better outlet than we have seen recently.

I think we will lose this game, they are on a great run and are one of the form teams in the league. We shocked them last time but lightening doesn't strike twice.

Trying to keep a rational 12 game mentality these are one of the toughest we could play so I wont be too despondent if we get nothing.

I'm rating this, along side Bradford as the least winnable game we have between now and the end of the season so IF we are going to get to safety, other games are going to provide a better chance and be of greater importance. I am not saying we should go for it, but I will understand if we don't win.

For those saying that all games are winnable I ask one simple question... who would you play on Saturday if you could wave a magic wand, Oldham again or Bolton?

Hold your nerve.

I've got a funny feeling that we will win this game, although only a draw last night the performance must have raised confidence, getting some of the senior players back is a massive boost so if we are to survive then at some point there will be a defining moment and I think it might be on Saturday.

That doesn't mean I wont be watching from behind the settee again !

Tricky one, that said they’d won 5 on the spin and we’d lost 6 on the spin when we went to their place!

Take a draw in this, hopefully we can play with the intensity of last night but can’t afford to be so wasteful.

Wouldn’t shock me if we won this knowing Vale but any positive result would be welcome.

Should respect them but not fear them, we didn’t annihilate them by luck, we just had our better players available that day and was ruthless.

Santos has been player of the week most weeks on the EFL TOTW he was dreadful against Rodney!

I am going to be positive on this one.  A goal fest will happen again and hopefully it will be our players scoring for fun again.  🤪

This could go either way like the last match against them.  Most of us thought we would get well and truly beaten and look what happened.

All depends on what our strikers do and what pair of boots they put on.  If any of our injured first team players are available and more importantly Worrall came through last nights game okay.  Got seriously worried when I saw him pull up - thought that he was injured again.

Also are Vale capable of playing another match at such a high tempo like last night for a 2nd game in a week or will they be knackered and play deep in their half inviting them to shoot at Brown.

I'm going 6-3 win

How is the Gantt chart looking so far? 😀

Hard game no one doubts that if Vale get a early goal then I see no reason why it's not going be 3 points for Vale .

Should be a lot of folk buying the match from Boltonso let's give them hell , same level of performance and creativity and better finishing from Vale and this time it will not be a 0 by our name it will be 6 minimum .

It is 11 men v 11 men make sure ours are the better 11 and get that win

UTV looking forwards to seeing Carol's happy tweets after the game ,am I confident downright I am Clarke is improving us ten fold .
