Match Thread: Tranmere Rovers v Port Vale

Lost to the better team today.  Having said that we can't defend, yet another game where we've given a team a leg up.  We can forget winning many games until we start keeping clean sheets.

Listen to the podcasts, he was never staying.

Not on about him staying. While he was in the team umpteen on here claimed he wasn't arsed .

Trannies look very good and in form... but our defence looks absolutely shocking. It’s hard not to focus on Crookes and Mills as today that’s  generous to Smith ( my theory is he has long Covid) and Monty but those two (Crookes & Millswould be where I’d be looking to change. We’ve got Mussie in I’d have a look at him to be honest. Hopefully Gibbons benefits from the rest. Legge - we need to stick or twist but for me he’s not going to improve matters and will saddle the next manager with a player he probably won’t want.

Tranmere knew how to defend and looked more up for the match.  Their commentators summed it up well.  We tried up front but our defence let us down with silly errors.

But he is in the wrong sport - should be on a running track then.

Lewis Haldane was quick

With this season's defensive errors, clean sheets are going to be as rare as hens' teeth!

Tranmere are a promotion challenging side we arent. Our defence should be  a registered charity.

It's alright. We beat Southend and Grimsby. Super Danny with all of his experience and tactical nous will do the business until the end of the season.

Sign him up

Yes, definitely quick but unfortunately almost totally ineffective!

When will the players, board & fans wake up and realise we are in danger of relegation.

To say Southend & Grimsby are poor (which they are) so we will be OK is so wide of the mark.Only takes one of them sides to pick up a couple of results and we are in the <ovf censored>. Looking forward to next season if we do stay up, how can a club finishing 3rd or 4th bottom of the league attract players and convince them we are going for playoffs/promotion next season?

I thought they were!!!

What's Sinclair 's job? Defensive coach?

Head of Coaching Development / assistant to caretaker-manager

Why sign Guthrie? Yet again we sign a player no better than what we already have. His statistics before we signed him are <ovf censored> and will only get worse now he’s come to the Vale.

Keep saying this when you look at the table, it only takes Grimsby or Southend to put a couple of wins and its bad news for Vale.  You can't rely on either of those teams to carry on their poor run.
