So they should be allowed to vote for the prime minister in a leadership contest, but not capable of doing it in a general election? Tell me why one requires more responsibility?

2 reasons

1 voting for a leader of a party carries less responsibility that voting the party into power.

2 it's the law.

It seems a reasonable idea to get younger people interested in politics...... I'm surprised none of the other parties do it.

Do you not feel that telling US born people of colour to 'go home' is racist?

No I don't. As far as I am aware he suggested the four democrats who have repeatedly said disgusting things about America and Americans that if they hate the USA so much  they can leave and go elsewhere, no reference was made to color of skin or race. He was wrong in that 3 of the squad were born in the USA but it's obvious what he meant.

Do you think he'd have said it if they were white?

Context is everything. Telling white people in the same situation to "Go Home" would not have inferred go back to Europe, more likely go back to your electorate. Whereas the Trump inference was you don't belong in this country.

Inference........ difficult concept in law.

Stealing from a thief is still thieving, so yes. 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Stealing from a thief is dependent on what you do with what you steal..... if you send it back to where it came from it may not be theft..... another questionable concept.

Who knows?

He's been 100% against a No Deal Brexit and I guess he's got a better idea than most as to how it might play out.

Rumour suggests that he's saved up a few quid during his austerity years and was planning to expand the economy a little bit and boost the ailing public sector but it appears that £30 billion of that, maybe two or three times that amount, could go up in flames if it goes base over apex, destroys his plans and we end up in recession. And don't forget the £39 billion bill we are paying off, to add to the cost.

It's got to be a real fear because we've been living through a very long period of austerity since 2010 and the country has taken a massive hit. You only need to look around you to see the impact its had on public services, the NHS, schools, transport, crime, housing, the high street and the rest. So I share his worries that we can't afford another downturn so soon after this one. It could be disastrous for our economy.

It's a weird situation when an incumbent chancellor resigns because he doesn't like the way his own party is going. But we live in interesting times. Normally it's economic matters that define the path we take but some people seem quite happy to take this high risk leap into the unknown as long as they get their Brexit. So, the Irish border, the future of the UK, our economic well being and global influence and standing - none of this matters any longer - because we must have our Brexit regardless of the consequences.

It's a funny old world - as Jimmy Greaves used to say (well, something like that!)
