Still hope Askey signs up Durrell who like Worral can play in a midfield three...even with the four trialists that would be a squad of 25 senior players.

Got to say though that Cummings/Montano/Brown/Amoo/Cullen/Oyeleke all have iffy recent fitness/injury problems.

They reckon Trickett-Smith is like that as a player but not too sure Askey rates him

Worrall and Amoo you'd expect are our first choice wingers for instance.

I wondered that too but on reflection I don't think it will be a problem when injuries and suspensions start to kick in. We have several injury prone players like Manny and Monty and one or two who are recovering from long term injuries like Cullen. Amoo also missed a whole season earlier in his career with a grade one groin strain and others are going to be with the physio as the season goes on. So Askey's plan to have a smaller squad is making good sense because with two players or so for each position, he will have real competition for places as well as cover for injury. As he said a while back, if there are players who can't get a game whatever happens, it can really sour the atmosphere.

So let's hope our patience will be rewarded as Askey slowly but surely puts the squad together. It's starting to feel a whole lot more positive as pre-season goes on. UTV!

Lloyd was his usual wimpy self hasn’t improved since he left the Vale.

How anyone can think he can play at full back needs their head looking at.

Askey doesn’t rate any of Norman’s signings as he didn’t play any of the loan signings bought in.Shame really because Liverpool paid good money for him.

He is a box to box midfielder and can make a good pass but he hasn’t played for Macc Reserves.

Thus may sound a bit maverick Ern but everyone around me agreed Lloyd did ok. Also, I can’t remember a thunderous challenge from anyone all game, so perhaps they’re all “wimpy” 😳

Wingers are probably good enough now (if Whitfield stays). Amoo worral Whitfield and montano (if ever for) and Lloyd unless Whitfield leaves I can’t see us bringing anyone else in. Wouldn’t mind another pacey winger like amoo though!
