  1. So a left winger and a centre forward by the August deadline but if only two more signings where does that leave the trialists.....don't know much about the other midfielder on trial but Solanke seemed nailed on as cover for Walker at defensive midfield after all the new manager criticism of the Askey squad for only having one defensive midfielder also that left back on trial.....seemingly they have already left the building or having read that are packing their bags. So anyway it is back to a left winger and a striker as it was weeks back.....Molyneux and Tshimanga seemed like good available options and even maybe Swan on loan.....it must all have something to do with budget and the three transfer listed players. If the three find new clubs the wages will go on a left winger and a striker but if they get a mutual agreement percentage pay off then maybe only one player and probably just a loan or some such and it looks likely that the situation with the transfer listed three is holding things up and maybe the club has missed out on targets. Got to say the left winger seems an odd call now unless they can play wing back as it looks like three at the back with wing backs for the majority of the season and apart from having the option and in the odd one or two games actually playing wingers it does look like wingless wonders are us....Worrall and Hurst can play wing back but Amoo looks surplus as would another winger...would any funds best be spent on a striker and a good one at that.
  2. Got to add that Taylor is quite quick and very mobile while Garitty is said to be a bit of a roadrunner then Gibbons is quickish as is Benning and also Jones looks to have a bit of speed across the ground....for defenders....perhaps the team were still knackered from that three sessions a day week long training camp an all in all headbanger who dares wins week.
  3. On a question of pace there was a youtube clip of Wilson up against Nani and Valencia in a sprint challenge and Wilson was "the fastest man at old trafford" also not only is Rodney quick but also both Hurst and Amoo are very quick.....but another pacey player is always welcome.....Worrall isn't exactly slow.
  4. Tshimanga is back doing pre-season training at Borehamwood and played in that friendly but hasn't signed yet....seems to have failed in two league 1 trials but maybe a step up too far and maybe league 2 would be a better next move....out of contract and just turned 24 and some say therefore a free transfer others that it is the players age last april so a tribunal fee....a little confused so if anyone knows the score on this....any fee now must be nominal like a mini bus with an MOT.
  5. Tshimanga is said to be pacey and likes running at defenders and seemingly still hasn't signed for anybody had two league one trials which might have been a step too far and has just turned 24 so could be a free transfer....and wasn't young Swan quick and might be worth another loan....need more firepower because one injury to Rodney or Wilson and we are mid-table.
  6. Once fit Taylor has a lot to offer the team over the season and even if not fully fit for the big kick off having a class midfielder with box-to-box energy and a quality skill set that includes touch, vision, passing and most importantly goals....in summary; potentially the best midfielder at the club. With the pace of the modern game and the fitness required for the high press and the amount of games (50 plus league and cup) it is very much a squad game with three subs and not just about a settled starting eleven week in week out month after month....Taylor and Garrity will get games....and our manager is a renowned "tinkerman" (copyright Leicester City).
  7. Good news that the club will certainly be signing another striker before kick off. ........................................................Covalan................................................ .....................................Smith.............Legge...........Johnson...................... Worrall.........................Pett..............Walker..........Conlon..............Benning .............................................Wilson..............Rodney..................................... Guesswork at the starting eleven thinking the only two questions are over the back three and thinking Legge will start as leader at the back for the start of the season and Johnson will play....the midfield three are probably the best in the division as is the quality of service from wide with the quality of Worral and Benning at wing back and if Wilson and Rodney can click early then the season can really take off.
  8. Tshimanga was at Bolton on trial and Plymouth in league 1 and would be a good shout for a league 2 club as say fourth striker....turns 24 next week so free transfer....likewise Molyneux still hasn't signed for Hartlepool and the 28 day day period to accept the contract offer expires later in the week...needing a fourth striker and a left winger both would be a good shout to complete the squad. Thinking Gibbons/Legge/Worrall/Taylor/Hurst/Amoo have all been out injured at some point in pre-season and after the Forest game DC was saying there would be two or three last signings....Solanke/Molyneux/Tshimanga would complete the squad DM/LW/ST......jobs a good'un.
  9. Thinking aloud could the wages of Burgess and Whitehead be earmarked for the two midfield trialists with the club throughout pre-season and the big signing using Theo Robinson wages could be pricisely another striker.....say a Scott Quigley or say a player who can play left wing or upfront like say Andrade....so maybe the trialists and the first year professionals get deals and the final signing is a proven forward very much for the first team.....or maybe a left winger and a striker after all...still think Molyneux could be worth considering and it looks like Tshimanga is still not fixed up and as an added extra Swan back on loan maybe.....there is certainly a couple of bits of business left in this pre-season.
  10. Still think the squad needs a fourth striker and a left winger......but perhaps the last couple of signings are now dependent on the transfer listed three getting gone.
  11. Not going 4/4/2....unbelievable.... playing ONE upfront......unacceptable.....defund the Vale.....
  12. Interesting comment above about wingbacks and is the pitch not set to go back to full width..... So a back three............Smith(Cass)...........Martin(Legge)...........Jones(Johnson) and RWB Gibbons/Worrall and LWB Benning/Hurst But is it 3/4/3 or 3/5/2 and given the number of central midfielders a potential midield three perhaps ......................................Pett(Garrity)........Walker(Solanke).............Conlon(Taylor) Interesting that Amoo played upfront in a two with Proctor although Rodney and Wilson must be considered the first choice strikers....still need a fourth striker. If throughout the season it changes game to game and even during a match in that "scissors/paper/stone" kinda way to out think teams then it could be 3/5/2 or 3/4/3 but also 4/3/3 and 4/2/3/1 and for traditionalists 4/4/2.....still think along with a fourth striker the squad needs a left winger.
  13. ................................Stone.................................. ...................Smith........Martin.......Jones........... Worrall.......Garrity.....Walker....Pett......Benning ...........................Amoo....Proctor.........................
  14. Luke Molyneux seems a good shout and could Port Vale be one of the clubs interested in signing the speedy "wing wizard" and as the article says the 28 days to consider the improved contract offer for an U24 player is a formality and it does seem that Molyneux could well be signing elsewhere. Molyneux left wing and as fourth striker Swan back on loan and Solanke defensive midfield cover would complete a busy summer of signings......never known one like it.....that would be 15 new players.
  15. Cass can play RB/RCB and offers cover both for Smith and Gibbons....Solanke is a defensive midfielder who can also play across the back four....both Cass and Solanke are big units and it certainly looks like a "land of the giants" squad. While Gibbons will miss the start of the season kinda expect Cass to play rightback and Smith to partner Martin with Benning at left back.....then again it might be 3/5/2 with a back three and wingbacks. Wonder if Swan back on loan could be the fourth striker.
