He is currently rumoured to be in the final stages of sealing a deal to become owner of Port Vale Football Club in the lower reaches of EFL League 2. The deal is reportedly around the value of £2.75m with £500k a retention dependant up on the club securing it's Football League status. Obviously got some wonga and Granada for example were in La Liga recently but they are not fashionable so maybe likes a project to get a smaller club up the ladder.

This poster talks with certainty, sometimes with ersatz passion, usually with a well constructed argument. However he/she always comes out with utter muppetry. This poster has been on the forum many times under many different guises. Many people on here say ignore posters like this, that's a fair point. I am of the view that we must challenge and drive away such deliberate misinformation which is clearly designed to obfuscate and confuse. Anyone who can say that Port Vale is worth than £6million is a con artist or is seriously deluded, or is in the pay of a con artist, or is seeking to cook up some kind of scam. The one thing to take away (!) from this is that it would appear that Mr Smurthwaite was happy to sell the club for £2.75 Million plus £500K if we stayed in the league. That gives any potential buyer a starting point for negotiations.
