To provide a little balance - The budget

2 things.

1 it's difficult to ascertain the truth when there is little evidence to support a statement. Someone selecting numbers from an unidentifiable list with no corresponding identifiers is not the best way to judge accuracy or specifity.

2 we are again concentrating on the amount spent (supposedly) not on the value of what we have purchased.

1. Garlick might not be very good at his job but I wouldn’t call his honesty into question personally.

2. Crap managers attract crap players generally. They also go for quantity over quality because they doubt their player judgement. Micky generally didn’t. That is the owner’s biggest lesson he needs to learn.

This obsession with budget is depressing; if this is what football is all about then don't bother playing any games, just publish the playing budget at the start of the season and the top 4 spending clubs get promoted!!

For the vast majority of clubs, to achieve success means to punch above their financial clout and this can only be done through a combination of shrewd signings and ensuring that the team performs to a level that is greater than the sum of its parts. This is why the most important employee at any football club is the manager; it is their responsibility to get the absolute maximum out of the available resources. JR did it, MA did it. Unfortunately, BR, MB & NA didn't but lets hope JA can.

We have a squad that is capable of getting out of this division no matter what budget we have. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that we need to start scoring more goals but if we can create more chances than we did under NA then I'm sure with the strikers we have they will come.

We don’t have any choice until he decides he wants to sell and someone meets his valuation. What people don’t seem to fathom is that as it stands it’s currently a sellers market.

We also give crap players and crap managers chance after chance in the hope they might perform, at least the owner provides some form of ‘entertainment’

I don't find some doing irreparable damage to the football club I love 'entertainment'.

That's why I'm worried!

He wasn’t on a pittance at Rochdale so why would he give up a cushy number to come to Vale?

Unless he was silly enough to listen to Poppa Smurfs fairy stories.

How do you know he isn’t?

How do you know he is. I'd bet a fair amount of cash that he is on a lower salary than his predecessor as Secretary and a pittance compared to what our previous CEO (Mr Deakin) was getting.

Looking at attendances, we're on course for a 30 year low and our 5th successive decrease. With Sky football, the premiership and their armchair fans, an area with such poverty and a wealthy club with a young fanbase who were recently in the Premiership just a few miles away, that looks like pretty irreparable damage to me.

I don’t see how it’s irreparable? Yeah he’s made stupid mistakes but nothing terminal has he?

REP if you're not a WUM then you are certainly not as intelligent as you claim to be. How many fans are we getting through the gate week in week out? How many people have lost interest or are actively not attending because of Norman's actions. How many parents are no longer going and as a result not taking their kids? He has put this club into an extreme downward spiral that will ultimately lead to us losing professional status if it is not rectified. Can you not see that? Can you not see why people hate Norman? Can you not see why he is now a cancer on the club? Are you so unable to change your view or to look at a situation objectively? I've spoken to so many people who just don't bother anymore and he is the root cause of that. Have you not sat in the ground and felt the atmosphere? Have you not thought about how it was just a short few years ago, VP rocking with positivity, fans singing and enjoying being at the match? The whole place stinks of depression now, and I for one hate that he has ruined my biggest passion.

Who questioned his honesty?

I would suggest crap money deters good players, a hostile working environment may also deter players.

Thats the second time you have used the phrase "Its a sellers market".... what exactly do you mean by that.

Usually, a sellers market indicates there is a lot of demand for the thing he is selling....but you also state there are no viable alternatives.

I'm also awaiting a response from you on the appropriateness of his valuation. I mentioned that an appropriate value would be based on the EBITDA multiples of similar transactions, or in the case of a failing business, the value of its assets.

The inappropriate value is "What the owner wants for it".... I agree that is his valuation... but its not appropriate and is prohibitive to other people presenting themselves as viable alternatives.

Do you disagree... if so, on what basis?

Don’t get me wrong I don’t enjoy going to watch the crap we’ve seen since Micky left, the odd performance aside, but ultimately PVFC is in your blood or it’s not. Fans falling out of love with the club because of who owns it seems quite perverse to me. Fans not attending because of the crap served up on the pitch over the last 5 years since Micky left is understandable. The budget is fine, the choice of managers since Micky has been terrible and in turn their choice of players has in the main been terrible.

The aging fan base has not been addressed since Mike Aldridge’s campaign, since then it’s been absolutely obvious the fan base is aging dramatically. That coupled with Stoke’s success and the greed is good league and the despicable attitude of the EFL introducing such things as the checkatrade disgrace and ifollow being allowed to broadcast in the uk shows they are intent on killing lower league football. I’m sure in the future with people being so open to u23 teams being allowed in our competitions and the cost of attending games the bottom two leagues or at least league 2 and the conference will merge and regionalise and eventually the greed is good league and championships will become closed shops.
