Yes its not an attractive tie for them but very much so for us. Genuine question what happens when their Chairman wants reduced price tickets and ours doesn't ?

Then they aren't reduced. How could they be? Smurthwaite owns the ground and the club!

FA rules, wont allow any reduction on entry fees unless previously agreed with your opponents so really can't see that happening and for once wont be down to chairman.

Why wouldn't Sunderland agree to reduced prices? That only tends to happen when smaller clubs are at home and know they'll sell out the away end, so keep prices high. The money they could make from this game will be peanuts to a club their size, so I imagine they won't be all that fussed if we suggest reducing prices. It will 100% be down to Smurthwaite, he'll have to decide whether to attract a couple of thousand more at a cheaper price with a longer term goal = less money into the club in the short term, or to keep prices as they are and see an attendance of around 10k. This match will attract more than the usual 4 to 4.5k Vale fans in my opinion. Sunderland are a huge club. I imagine this match would attract more Vale fans than if we got someone like Bournemouth or Brighton. I'd be very surprised if we didn't see 5 to 6,000 Vale and no doubt they will sell the 4,500 away end. Could easily be pushing 11k.

I'll criticise Norman when he deserves it, but if he decides to keep this full price then I wouldn't knock him on this occasion. It still needs a good marketing push mind.

If anything I think it's the home games beforehand that need looking at. This Saturday is probably too soon, but with Notts County on the 3rd, maybe it's that game that we need to try and help ease the cost of having 3 home games on the spin?

As a side issue to your post I tried to get 2 tickets for mates for the Notts County game, on line and I found that there were very few seats that you could get that were available in Lorne Street already. Does that mean a near sell out there or how do the seats receive a "not available" sign when trying to book a particular seat or two?

I would be surprised if more than half were STs, but would probably be the prime seats.

What do you mean - prime seats? On line there were only a very few seats available in Lorne street to purchase. I sit there and know there a good number taken up by season ticket holders but there are many more than that not available on line, so who decides what seat is up for purchase each match? Do Vale actually set aside so many seats(non season ticket holder) that cannot be purchased in advance?

By prime seats I mean the favourite or best views usually taken by STs, whether so many seats are reserved for sale by the ticket office I do not know.
