Brabin leaves..............

Don’t forget we have Nogan, this is only for a coaching position, there may be no hurry to fill it and I suspect he was on a very low wage.

Considering that it was Brabin and Nogan who took the majority of the sessions then it may mean that we do need someone else in.

Just gives me a thought; why are there a transfer window for players, but not for managers/coaches?

One could argue, that a manager/coach is a much more important employee, as they lay the course for the whole club. Hence leaving the club he leaves, in dire straits. I'm not saying this is the point with Brabin, but a general observation.

I was thinking this myself, unless they are sacked why should they be able to move on and leave a club short of a member of the management team, I suppose we've had some compensation so smurf will be happy

People are generally allowed the freedom to work where they want to outside of North Korea.

So basically you want everything weighted in favour of the club in that they can sack a manager if they want to, but he can't leave of his own accord if he wants to.

Aspin quoted as saying Pugh could possibly fit into the role, so looks like an interim arrangement to me. I was hoping we’d get someone in with a bit of a track record but this is a good opportunity for Pugh who has played at a very high level. You never know.

Already some negative comments are coming out. I disagree with those comments and go along with Cambridge Don. This decision gives Neil Aspin the chance to see how Danny Pugh does in this more enhanced role. It will not take him long to see if it is working. If it does not work out the Manager still has the option of looking elsewhere. All coaches have to start somewhere. No one who has commented so far (including me) has the faintest idea of Danny Pugh's coaching skills, so any critical or hugely praiseworthy comments have no value yet. I am happy that this gives Port Vale a little time to see if he is the man for the job. If he is, that will be great. If he isn't, then we have time to put the feelers out and get the right person. For all kinds of football (ie business) reasons this is a sensible initial response to Brabin's departure. However, I don't doubt lots of uninformed keyboard warriors will be berating the decision, and blaming Aspin and Smurf in equal measure.

I remember when 34 year old Gordon Lee was appointed manager, and everyone was saying WHO? So good luck to Danny, I hope you are a huge success.
