John Rudge Role

Recommended Posts

I am in no way making any criticism of the great John Rudge I just wonder what if any role he plays at Port Vale.

Does he advise NA on signings ?

Does he add any advice on tactics and team selection ?

Would be interesting to get his perspective on the club would have been nice to see Sir John work with different owners,

Views ?

Hard to say. I have not seen him at games and have not heard him much at all this season. I suspect he came forward to support Aspin as a great former player who was loyal to him.

I doubt he is out scouting as it seems every time we sign someone, they have been on Aspin’s own radar for ages.

He scouted Mitch Clark. I believe 'football advisor' is the job title, meaning he advises the management. Are you going to ask is he worth the wages we are paying him? What are the wages we are paying him would be my response to that. I don't believe he'd take money from the club without earning it and I don't think Smurthwaite os the type who would anyone more than the going rate if he could help it.

There are some people need to be a bit more realistic about what he sort of an input he can have. In a few weeks he will turn 74. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience but he can't be expected to go up and down the country watching players.

If we didn't have such a bloated squad as usual I'd like to see him used to scout and recruit 3-4 "development squad" players. Players in the 18-21 age bracket who have been released by other clubs that we could take a chance with, polish up and potentially sell on in a few years.

Thats not my name pal.

Your a fool of the highest order and NOBODY listens to your opinion.

Haven't you got a multi billion pound business to run?

The guy should have been banned from this site years ago. Only posts when we've lost a game and just tries to stir up hatred and divides between Vale fans. He offers nothing to the forums, mod's should take action against trolls.

Whatever role the great man is doing he is welcome anytime at the Vale. Without him in the past there possibly wouldn't be a Port Vale

What people either fotget or don’t know is that it took years to get Vale to their pinnacle. There was a lot of dire performances along the way.

If then was now the usual suspects would have been calling for Rudges head months before the Macclesfield FA cup game.
