Match Thread - Carlisle United v Port Vale

Results and Performances in 2018 have not been much better than when Brown was in charge. No away wins at all and just four homes wins which include the last two matches. All in all a bit of a disaster which Aspin does not seem to know how to change. Looks like we’ll probably start 2019-2020 with yet another different manager for the sixth successive season with yet another complete overhaul of the squad. Totally and utterly fed up with all things Port Vale at this moment in time.

Over all their respective times in charge, there's no comparison between Aspo and Brown:

Brown: 34 Games W6 D9 L19 Win Ratio 17.6%

Aspin: 45 Games W14 D13 L18 Win Ratio 31.1%

Brown has the worst win ratio of any manager since records began in 1896, except for Ivor Powell who was only in charge for 19 matches.

We need to watch out because if Aspo goes, Norman won't spend what we would need for a proper replacement. Apparently, he offered less to Askey than he was on at non-league Macclesfield. So we'd probably end up with Gary Brabin or one of the other support staff.

There are a lot of very worrying signs at the minute.

I can't fathom how we were trying to set up, what our shape was - I don't think the players either understood or believed in what they were being asked to do.

That, on the back of being bossed by Col U, Lincoln and then possession wise by Crawley Town and you have to ask what's going on? There are good, not great but good, players in there somewhere but they aren't being played to their strengths.

Stick them in a 4-4-2 and go back to basics.

Absolutely abject tactically.

First half was mad. No pace, players out of position.

Second half; bring on pace, play players in correct decision. What do we do? Sub Miller for Worrall, go one up top chasing a game, and play wing backs and wingers. Shockingly, it didn't work.

Fourth poor performance in a row. Genuine concerns about Aspin, for the first time. Very, very poor stuff.

We are mid-table at best.

Credit to Carlisle; great on the ball and look pretty decent. Just we were utterly dog.

Embarrassing thread already 4 games in and its doom and gloom. Aspins got no idea, if he goes then we get his support staff, Ricky Miller disappointing ....Jesus we lost 2-1 at Carlisle where weve won like once in the last 20 visits.

Negative yes, annoying that he changed the system again yes...the end of the world er no. We’ve got a new team that Aspin hasn’t got to grips with with and like a lot of managers in this league he’s not sure of his best 11. Unfortunately the most mobile CM we have is injured and it’s put his team into disarray a present.

It’s going to be six months before the team is settled, the system is correct and there’s any consistency. Half the reason we are where we are is because we haven’t stuck with Page or Bruno when the going for tough. Let’s not slaughter another manager before he has the opportunity to build something decent and put the club on an even Kiel. Anyone who expects a manager to stroll in sign a new team and have us playing like Barcelona is either naive or stupid. If we finish in midtable we’ve come a long way from last seasons balls up with brown

I said “results in 2018”

Played-26 won-4 drawn-10 lost-12 Win Ratio-15.38%

Worse than Brown

We started this game with no means of getting upfield and we were dire for the whole first half. Kay in midfield again who can't pass, can't get close to mark, can't tackle, not much in the air. The first half we were lucky to get off losing only 1-0. Some improvement second half. Unlucky with the pen against but this isn't good enough. No tactics in open play at all, just not drilled and Kay needs dropping now.
