Var?

I saw VAR for the 1st time in the Liverpool West Brom game tonight and I was not impressed at all.

Why was it not employed in all todays games and what are your thoughts.

I hope that it doesn't continue in it's current form, clunky and TBH I'd rather them get a 50/50 wrong than have to go through that rubbish every time.

It wont be long before adverts are played during the decision.

Certainly added a certain spice to tonight's game. I can already see the whiny premier league big wig managers using this as an excuse.

Aren't they also looking to bring the sinbin into football soon as an experiment? Whether people like it or not this will become part of modern day football.

I can see both good and bad reasons for the VAR, Certainly going be controversial with the premier league bigwigs

VAR has resulted in correct decisions. The issues with it are communication with spectators at the game and at home, the delay and impact on the flow of the game - which should get better with improved efficiency, and related, the FA going down the wrong pathway. By this I mean the person in the VAR room should have the authority to decide the outcome, and tell the referee as happens in cricket and rugby.

  • 2 weeks later...

There were no penalties back then.

The final would have been replayed in the event of a draw.

Any of the other matches in the knock out phase would have been decided by a coin toss I think. At the National Football Museum the other year I read that the Argentinians were hanging on for that after Rattin got sent off.
