Don't think our squad is that small but I agree we've really missed Gunning and Denton. Gunning may not be much more than L1/L2 quality but he was an experienced pro and one of the senior players in the squad. I think the manner of his departure really unsettled the team and it was made worse by having to face him in the next game. Denton's value was seen last time we played Colchester when in a few minutes of coming on he set up the equaliser with a great cross. We no longer have those options.

 

Still it's water under the bridge now and we have to get on with it. Hopefully the new lads will help forge a new team spirit and we can go on another good run. Tomorrow would be a good time to start.

 

I agree that the squad wasn't small. It was actually ridiculously big. However, in terms of players good enough for the first team, numbers were low. Losing two who were contributing was disruptive.

As you say, water under the bridge, but I believe this provides some context for the dip in form.

Totally agree, everyone knew their jobs and what others around them could/ couldnt do, no we have had to go back to basics until we can reach the same basics..

 

the good thing is we are still scoring and creating just need to start again to keep it tight in midfield and the back

Not sure where Aspin has plucked this starting 11 from to be honest, but we will see how it goes.

 

Tonge has been off the pace for a few weeks so I’m not sure why he hasn’t been dropped.

 

I’d have dropped Tonge instead of Anderson. 4-1-3-2 with Kay behind the midfield. Worrall on the right of the 3, Montano on the left then Hannant in the middle.
