Match Thread: Accrington Stanley v Port Vale

My point is Jacko that we are Port Vale, do we really need to turn into Mark Hughes and bemoan every decision. As i said Barnet and Yeovil at home were both debatable pens in my opinion and those points gained and taken off our relegation rivals could be crucial. I sit in the Bycars quite near the front and the Yeovil was cast iron not a penalty, Barnet possibly was possibly wasn't.

I am as biased as they come but it is swings and roundabouts. Officialdom is horrific at the moment, the worst decision of the weekend was the Chesterfield winner at Yeovil where Khan had his shirt ripped off his back and Chesterfield got the winner, he was then sent off for his arguing. Karma some might say or downright shocking officials.

Hopefully we will get some more dubious decisions to counter the dodgy ones we are getting.

Are you also suggesting just because you are one of the lucky/ unlucky ones who goes to every game that nobody else can have an opinion because they weren't at the game ?

I saw the incident that led to the penalty against Yeovil from the Lorne Street and thought it was a cast iron penalty. So angle of view depends a lot on how you see any incident.

It's a bit like the four witnesses to a road accident that had widely differing accounts. Your view of the incident, the speed at which it happens, your own particular likes/dislikes/prejudices all come to bear on perception.

Sometimes decisions go for us, sometimes against. We would hope that they balance out over a season, but even that's subject to perception.

I'm with Darren Ferguson when he said they all should be 'shot' (lol) the standard of referees in Leagues one and two are abysmal, Professional game and players being run by amatuers.

The sooner all the refs go full-time can't come soon enough, it seems every week me and those around me are shouting and balling at the ref's mistakes its getting worse as each game unfolds!!

Arguably the worst one was the decision to award them a throw after thier own defender slid the ball out right in front of the liner in the second half down by us, Worrall got booked for protesting, but it was an unbelievable decision and even their defender was laughing at the liner.

Weak mentality cost us again we 2 nil up u thinking do the basics bring on a extra defender if you have to .

Keep the ball away from the goal put allten men on the line if u have to .

No not giveaway Vale .

Give the other team impetus block nothing ,dont throw yourself in front of the ball u may get hurt .

Cowardly stuff ,im not even going go on about the ref as its pointless they won we lost .

Accrington wanted it more than us as did Yeovil as did Forest Green .

What a time to produce what we have produced .

Bruno Brown Aspin i feel sorry for them managing some of that lot .

The good work over xmas has being completely ruined .

Typical Vale

It's easier to say this in the cold light of day than in the heat of the moment, but officials do their best in what is fast becoming an almost impossible task. The pace of the game, the speed of movement, the long range passes, players diving and trying to con the referee, etc. all make it so so difficult to get every decision right.

Anyone who has refereed - even at schoolboy level - knows how tough it is.

Nowadays we have cameras everywhere, slow motion replays and now VAR, plus a panel of know alls in a studio, but the poor ref has only one split second chance to get it right.

I reckon refs make far fewer errors than any player does in 90 minutes yet they get slammed for a single mistake when players can get away with 5-6 bad passes, missed shots or whatever.

You just have to bite you lip, except they are human and make mistakes but that it's done to the best of their ability.

Who really would want to be an official in this day and age with so many 'experts' judging you after viewing a slow motion action replay ten times?!

Jimmy Armfield only got booked once in about 600 games. He played the game as a gentleman. We need to follow his example.

As VFIA says we lost the game because we collapsed like a pack of cards in the second half. It's no use blaming the officials.

I was behind the goal right at at the front, their keeper turned round and said to us “that was your ball the liner got that one wrong.
