I would have liked Gavin to stay with us, but he's an average player with a poor discipline record so not too bothered Bad Gav has gone to the garden gobblers. Seems a strange one but probably down to length of contract. Best of luck!

Ive no doubt we wanted him to state but did we want him to stay for 18 months? Maybe we didn’t want to take another place in squad next summer which will be so important to rebuild. We could do with him, it I’m not worried we will be relegated now, and I don’t think we can challenge for the play offs realistically. So it gives a bit of room for a rudgie special in the summer.

He has come across as greedy.

I’ll bite. You haven’t got a clue what you’re on about.

A greedy player wouldn’t have come to play for us for the pittance he was on (I know the figure). Much like the players on loan he had to prove himself to either earn something here or a better contract somewhere else. He took a gamble on a low paid short term contract with us to do that. He ended up achieving both by getting an offer from us and someone else. Weigh up the pros and cons of a lower league footballer where they need stability, a longer contract somewhere else or another 6 months here. He chose the one with more time on it.

If your are referring to Norman. He'll not sell to anyone, so you'd better get used to it my friend.

Getting things back on topic after you strayed off. I think it will be very interesting to see how GG copes with our attacking players. I'd like to see Pope winding him up.

I would much prefer to see vale players doing their best to win... not wind people up

Joe Davis is probably on more money than Gunning and has bags more ability which Aspin can bring out as he has done with others so far. Anderson will probably play with a mask so defence should be same as ended last match. Think we will sign another centre half, box to box player although Regis clearly lined up for that and we need an out and out winger. Still about 4 we can shift out yet. If Aspo had thought Gunning was that good I think Smurthwaite would have agreed with Aspin and kept him. Fine lines with player signings as always not easy but trust Aspo and Rudge to sort it soonest.

Agree with the Davis bit, I think both him and Barnett have done really well without attracting the plaudits. What I continue to struggle with is Norman, other than being the owner, does he still have a say in the day today running of the club? I know 'owner' must carry some weight but I thought he said, in fact I'm sure he said "over to you Colin". Norman reminds me of James Brown or Ken Dodd, he just won't get off stage.

:yes::yes::yes:

I expect that Tom Pope could handle any winding up by Gunning.But Ben Whitfield is still a young lad who is doing very well,has a bright future.But will inexperience show and Gunning get through to him.I hope not.I think Tom will have probably had a word with Ben and will keep an eye on him and tell him the best ting to do is to ignore any wind ups by banging the ball in the net.Then IF if Gunning has been winding up,trying to get a reaction.Then see his reaction at the final whistle should Vale win.IF Vale lose ignore any wind ups after.Shake his hand them leave him.The last thing we need is for anyone to react to a wind up (if he does any) then get sent off.
