Best Performances you have seen

Some great performances over recent years, Alnwick's heroics against West Brom, Popey's 4 goals at home to Rotherham and his hat trick against Cheltenham when we were having a bad spell in the promotion season.

My personal favourite was a lot longer seeing Guppy make his debut for us, think it was against Millwall, he laid two on a plate and thought what a player we have on our hands.

For a team performance, I don't think I have seen a better one than when we played at Northampton back in 2001, won 2 nil, at half time we could have been 8 or 9 up.

Gary Ford home to Sheff Utd 2nd half sub. Helped us fight back from 1 0 down on a Monday night in what ended a 3 3 draw in about 1989- cloudy memories of this so apologies if there are errors!

Foyle in the 3 1 home FA Cup tie vs Stoke.

Jannson away at Huddersfield 4 0 win. 2?

Naylor away at Charlton (as mentioned above)

Guppy and Mcarthy home to Everton.

Naylor home to Sunderland (or was it Birmingham) where he scored a wonder goal after getting possession on the half way line, skinning three defenders and curling it into the top corner.

Porter home to Tranmere (out of retirement and off the bench inspired us to a Tuesday night 2 1 win or 3 1 win- I can't remember exactly)

Pope home to Rotherham 4.

Dodds home to Morcambe 3?

Alnwick home to Sheff Utd for the save against Billy Sharp.

I could go on and on but I'll choose Foyle vs Stoke as my absolute favourite.

Again, apologies if any of the details are slightly incorrect- my memory sometimes alters history!

Mussy at Highbury. The best goalkeeping display I've ever seen by a Port Vale player.

There was a Guppy one, I think against Charlton where he was just impossible to play against. Got a standing ovation off their fans when he got one of their defenders so tied up in knots that he ended up on his backside.

When Mills and Naylor were on song, they complemented each other so well. I remember one goal where Mills held off 2 or 3 players, flicked to ball to Naylor and then ran on to the return pass and scored. Sounds quite basic but it just seemed so effortless.

In later years, although his name seems to be mud around these parts nowadays, Anthony Grant put in some utterly flawless performances, head and shoulders above every other player on the pitch.

The whole team in the Burton 7-1. Was a once in a lifetime night that.

That was an amazing night. Atmosphere was fantastic and it was the day when it finally sank in that promotion was on. Let's hope we can have a similar night in the not to distant future.
