Happy to leave the signings to Michael Brown.

 

Wiki says of his time at Newport on a one year contract last season : He impressed manager Graham Westley after he was "concentrated and focused, determined and resilient in defence" filling in at left-back in December 2016. He left Newport after he turned down the offer of a new contract in July 2017.

 

So being objective, he is looking for something better than Newport. He has shown some features in his time at Newport that could be useful at Port Vale. He is 29, so in theory could be at the peak of his career if he gets all his ducks in line.

 

My main memories of him are that he has a hammer of left foot at edge of box freekicks, he is very left footed which some defenders can exploit, if he gets the ball in front of him with space he has the pace to exploit it. His crossing could be a bit wild, but there was a lot more positive than negative overall.

Correct, I would offer him a trial and see if he has still got it.

If we could get him on the cheap at the very least he'd be an excellent back-up option. Gotta be at least worth a trial IMO.

I'd have him back in a second, one of the most underrated players we have had in recent years.

 

That said if we sign Whitehouse as a back up winger we need a first choice and would he be good enough for people?

No we should stay well away from him. Career has been on the downgrade since he left us.

Take him back in a flash a player who knows the club and has the ability to take players on cut inside and takes a shot outside the box ... He would be a useful acquisition...

Wasn't it him and Rigg who supplied the crosses for Popey to score his goals.Probably doesn't graft enough for Brown but we still need ball players who can take on a full back.

Purely depends on how much he wants, and whether MB can get someone better for the same amount, and how his attitude might affect the squad.

 

If Brown does not consider him good for morale, then his ability level is irrelevant. He has some ability, but may have issues returning to Vale Park.

Adams signed him at Shelbourne so clearly he had no issues with using him again. Not sure why it's not worked in for Jenno at other clubs but I'd certainly welcome him back into our big pitch

He must regret leaving despite all the money he earned because it was downhill all the way after he'd left. He had his best spell with us and scored 16 goals in 81 games - not bad for a winger.

I doubt we'd have to shell much out to better Newport's offer, so it might be worth a try. Manager's shout though.

I would imagine Mr Brown and Mr Adams talk as the latter brought MB to the club.If MA thought JMW would be useful he would let MB know. Personally think he would be a good signing.. Typical player who needs the right manager to bring the best out of him.

Wouldn't think he was on big money at Newport and he has proved himself at this level.

Must be a better bet than Yates.
