Only 2 injuries reported so far but reports of people with torches on the roof. Firefighters attending in huge numbers.

Looks really bad..some harrowing accounts overnight but some heroic ones too. This looks like!y to get much worse.

What is particularly disturbing is that the block had a 2 year £10m facelift completed last year.

 

Yet it's gone up like a bonfire and the fire alarms did not go off.

Absolutely horrendous incident! Praise to all the emergency services and hope to God that deaths and injuries are minimised as much as is humanly possible. Thoughts reach out to everyone involved--a complete nightmare!

Totally Horrific & Numbing,seems a weekly sentiment at the moment- thoughts to the families involved .

 

Does make you wonder in todays world of hyper-sensitive health and safety(in the work place) that you can build & design a tall structure with only way out and no way any emergency services can have a route to get to you.

Surely there must be something that can be added like an escape chute/slide from the window ,or device you can attach to get you to the ground at least with a chance of survival (similar to a sycamore seed pod)-

Story of a child being dropped from a 9th floor window..caught safely by people below and firefighters pulling people out alive in the past hour.

 

Just too sad but such humanity in the midst of all this.

Up to 17 now, given the ferocity of the fire some bodies will never be found, there won't be anything left of them.
