Potential Buyers

further speculation, one rumour has it that synetics would have to borrow heavily and the FA don't look kindly to anyone who uses leveraged debt to purchase a club.

They have many contacts from their business in America but i am sure others who post on here and know them could refute the borrowing claim

There was probably not as much pressure on the owners to produce immediate results like today...

Why?

Fans have been as impatient for results and success for as long as I can remember! It just seems more now because the club's boards are a lot quicker to sack a manager, than they were, in response to fan criticism. Watford is probably a shining example of how the chairman ought to back his manager, from Elton's early days at the club.

And those of you who seem to be hoping that Smurf's health suffers sufficiently that he wants to sell up - Really? Heartless and selfish springs to mind!

What happened to Mo Chowdry?

Yes, Mohammed Chowdry's lack of interest in the club has shown what sort of chairman he would have been.

For all their faults, (except perhaps Deakin and Miller and that episode) that was one great service V2001 did for Vale in keeping him out of the club.

Just look at the number of managers getting the sack after half a season now a days. Managers seemed to be given longer periods to change things around by their chairmen. Now football is very much money driven and an example of that is match day prices. It seems to be getting out of the reach of a lot of fans around the UK.

I take it you mean apart from the 8 they've had in the last 6 and a half seasons?

They also kept alot of other people out of the club too.

I'm not defending them, far from it, except on that issue.

I don't know much about the others, maybe they would have been great, apart from perhaps the Italian one who went to a London club and it ended up with a gun being pulled in the boardroom, allegedly. Nice.

There must be some good owners out there, surely, and if there is a firm that supports Vale anyway as some seem to be saying, then I wish they could take over.

Fans have always wanted results but owners nowadays want results because it can lead to a massive return on their investment. It used to be a game now it is a corporate business.
