The manner in conceding so late on is gut wrenching but we were a whisker away from a great three points, a point would have been acceptable before the game so don't get too despondent, overall play seems better but results are disappointing. Can't believe Shrewsbury have won away at Scunthorpe :shifty:

May be if Brown wont sought Purkiss out and explain that he needs to concentrate for all of the match, then the rest of the team might want to have a quiet word with him. He is letting them all down. Once or twice you can forgive at this level, but it seems to be every week now.

A player of his experience needs to be told to concentrate at a corner?

You cant blame any manager for a last gasp loss of concentration, once over the white line blah blah blah.

Keeps happening though. Regular lapses in concentration are worrying. Maybe an old head would have got another RB in the window as opposed to Prohouly, who wouldn't have made the bench if not for JT's injury, or wouldn't have signed Tanser when Kiko and Knops are adequate.

Its all hypothetical I know, but having so many players not even making the 18 and having no decent RB's is a sign of poor transfers.

He may not be the answer but he's inherited a lot of crap.

He has but he dosent pick that crap. Fair few of the team today are his signings and didn't sign a player in our weakest area right back. It may not be 100% his fault but he has had a chance to change it and personally I don't think his signings are much better than some who played at the start of the season.

Although 3 pts would have been excellent for so many reasons Vale got a point and the performannce was much better certainly compared to last week. Just got to battle, battle and battle again.

Not losing to teams around us is ok.Very dissapointed today though.

Still think an experienced manager on 1st Jan was the way to go. Not knocking Brown, he's doing the best he can in chaotic circumstances, but an old head who's been in a scrap before might have helped us grind out wins in games like today.

Bang on. Our problems aren't necessarily our budget - it's where it's spent/wasted.

We have a caretaker manager with begged assistance from Ned Kelly & Kirkland.

We have an out of form RB Captain (remainder of 3 Captains), undroppable because we've no back-up

We have 5 goalkeepers, the 1st choice currently being a borrowed previous untried.

We have an abundance of nothing midfielders.

2 centre halfs, 1 being our top Goalscorer on 6.

Our remaining strikers - Forrester has 2, Walker has 2, Hooper has 1 and reserve Reggie on 5.

40 players signed this season and several already paid off, with more in the waiting.

The inexperienced on the cheap outlook is costing us dearly.

Totally agree, he should know better and is not a good example for the youngsters. They just see an experience player making mistakes and getting away with it.

The rest of the team played well and should have been celebrating 3 points, now they are travelling back tonight thinking they have lost the game.

Feel for the 129 travelling fans who must of thought they had seen the 2nd away win this season.

Outstanding performance. The local radio said Gills deserved nothing and I couldn't agree more - they were woeful. Our entire back four were excellent through the whole game and when they scored Smith had been thrown to the ground as the ball came over. Smith and Streete were top class. If I would complain about one thing it would be that we gave to ball away too easily in the last 10 minutes when we should have tried to retain possession. And JJ Hooper missing an open goal in the first half didn't help.

Agreed Tosh, will I'm sure feel a little better in an hour or two. Didn't go today but from the radio it seemed that Browny took the wrong man off in Walker and once he did go off the ball just seemed to come back at us again and again. They seemed to create nothing until that final corner. Radio said that Purkis lost his man, will have a look later.
