So we aren't 2 points off the sixth spot? Good god

So in the nicest voice possible, "Technically Vale aren't".

If Trump gets in tomorrow, heaven forbid, and the season comes to a premature end and the top 6 go into the play-offs 'cause Hiliary insists the vote is rigged and Vale are awarded just 2 points, would Vale make those play-offs?

That's not the question, fact is he's right, we are two points off, now if we want the place goal difference comes into it but that's clearly another matter.

So we're two points off sixth, but if we had two more points we'd only be 8th.

I'd rather be 2 points off the playoffs and whatever the goal difference is over 2 points off the bottom, which is where, in August, most posters on this thread predicted we would spend the season. Telling that a fair few of the posters have been nowhere to be seen during our solid start to the season and all come out the woodwork now we have key players injured and have had a tough run of fixtures.

We are in round 2 of the cup however we got there and we are 2 points behind the team in 6th place. Facts that can't be argued against.

Let me ask you another question, why are we in 11th place now and Fleetwood are in 10th place.

This is true. And this is after 16 games. Also true is the fact that after 8 games we were 1 point off an automatic promotion place. After 12 games we were fourth in the table, well in the play-off places. We are now in 11th place with the three teams behind us having a game in hand. This is why a number of people on here have concerns about the current progress of the club. In terms of results we seem to be going backwards not forwards. And blaming injuries is not acceptable. We have a squad of 36 players - why should injuries to a couple of players cause such a slump in form?

Goes without saying that all of us would want up to be top of the league rather than bottom. How many of the 13 posters who have expressed a concern in this thread over the current form and state of the club were have been nowhere to be seen during our 'solid' start? At a guess maybe 2. I am outing now, not because we have players injured but after giving the new regime a chance, there are things that are clearly not right at the club. Even I can see it and generally I'm a happy clapping ostrich.

Despite our solid start where IMHO we flattered to deceive and were lucky to get many of the points that we did, we now have won 2 in 8 and again who can say that we deserved either win. Be honest. We have injuries but we're also playing players out of form (or are they just not good enough) playing players out of position. We're also 1 dimensional, persevering with trying to play out from the back, with 1 up front. Swapping and changing players every game is it any wonder that the players don't seem to know what they are doing.

The odd poster may be a serial moaner but many are not and are just showing concern.

As I said in my earlier post Jean- the jury is still out but November looks like it will be pivotal.

The simple fact is that 2 points wouldnt put us in a play off position.... 2 points and 9 goals would.... 3 points would.... both with the proviso that all 3 teams below us lose their game in hand [walsall, millwall, charlton which doesnt seem possible] which wouldnt change the total needed but would slide us down the table a little... bearing in mind that there are only 8 points between playoffs and the drop.

Its not a bad place to be at this stage, not as good as I would like obviously, because Im biased,... the fleetwood game could really shake the tree
