Who will be the Vales new manager?

Michael Brown promoted to the management side must make him favourite to get the job. I do hope we do not go down this line but the chairman's wish to only invest what he has to means it is very likely. Michael Brown's career will have gained him some good contacts in the game and it would be good to utilise these as a number 2 to an experienced manager. He will also gain further knowledge in the job to become an eventual manager.

I'd love the club to identify a specific manager with a 3-5 year plan in mind, perhaps how Northamptons policy seems to be.

However back in the real world there is no plan other than to see who applies and the chairman to use this as a tool to grab a bit more negative publicity for the club.

With this in mind I think I'd go for Brown just for stability and stop the circus before it begins.

As long as the Chairman isn't willing to take the club forward we may aswell just go about our business quietly and hope for the best.

Thinking about it isn't Uwe Rosler local in the north west has applied before and would be interested.....Motörhead followed by "Heavy metal" high tempo gegen pressing attacking football.

Uwe has done poorly without money.

What is odd for me is that Brown has been promoted to the coaching staff, now what if a new manager doesn't want him in that role or the players he is helping to recruit? Most teams sort out a new manager asap but not Vale, unless Smurf has agreed with a manager about Browns input or he is lining up Brown

I have a feeling it will be someone like Adrian Pennock.

Did a great job with Forest Green and ex Stoke 1st team coach under Pulis (hopefully hasn't adopted the same style of play)

He left Forest Green recently though but as he is a free agent would that help Smurf as no compo would be required.

Saunders is one of those that I'd file in the "If it's him that's it for me" category ala when we had all those crackpot Neil Baker rumours at one point! And joking apart I honestly think season ticket sales would be at there lowest for a while if he got the job! I wouldn't even bother getting a 10 game one! Awful manager!

Who would want to work with NEGATIVE chairman. Page wouldn't.

Note his remarks on why he went to Northampton.

Rob Page says Northampton chairman Kelvin Thomas was a key factor in him becoming the Cobblers' new manager.

"Having met with the CHAIRMAN and seen how POSITIVE he was, it made it a no-brainer," added the ex-Wales defender.

"It's all about the CHAIRMAN, listening to what he wants to do with the football club on and off the pitch," Page told BBC Radio Northampton.
