Some right miserable beggars being mentioned on here. O'Driscoll always sounds like a funeral director. Thank god Cooper isn't available because all he does is whinge. John Coleman has done a superb job at Accy but when he got a chance at Rochdale he was a bit of a disaster. It's a shame Ian Holloway is a crap manager because he's huge entertainment. Last night on the Accy v Wombles game he was talking about Akinfenwa and said, "he had a twin but he ate him."

Smurf has himself to blame, Page for me has been top class, he's been given a 3 year deal, shows belief and stability - Smurf will be defined by this appointment, if it fails, he will be a sitting duck with fans even more so.

I hope of course we succeed, would love to see Coleman or the chap at AFC Wimbledon in the hot seat.

Could Martin Foyle emerge again?

Please no! It was Foyles football that killed my bug for Vale for a good few seasons, it took the appointment of Micky Adams to get me back. I can't go anyway at the minute due to work commitments but I wouldn't be rushing back to see a Foyle team again.

Brown has played at a few clubs so if he is helping Smurf is it possible he could suggest a former manager or ex teammate, Some of his ex managers I think include the likes of Warnock(unlikely),Kevin Blackwell(was assistant to Warnock), Steve Cotterill, Neil Redfearn. Anybody know if any of his ex teammates are managers/coaches (Chris Morgan I think is?)

I'm a bit lost here. If Brown is favourite for the job, and smurf has said he will be on the coaching team and will help appointing a new manager, is he going to declare himself as best man for the job?

I was thinking the same. The wording of the article suggests that Brown will be on the coaching staff/assistant manager but not the actual manager.

I'd like to see Adkins with Brown as number 2. Release all of the players offered contracts and have a fresh start.
