Not much I can say really. Wasn't there so I can't really comment on the game. Disappointed by the result though. Seems like we did everything but score!! :(

It was obvious not having a decent striker was always going be our downfall, need a good clear out at the end of the season and replace with a couple of quality strikers.

Disappointing result, to say the least. Paul Walsh on Sky summed it up by saying we played well, definitely deserved something from the game, but just couldn't score. Stats say we had 14 shots but only 2 on target compared to Barnsley's 5 shots and 3 on target. How many times have we seen that this season?

 

Mid table finish I think and then a serious search for a goalscorer for next season :(

Pretty much as expected no mental capacity for a game like this ! If we made the play offs we just could not perform. Season over start planning for next season , lets get a striker in and some players with a bit more fight and steel , we really do let ourselves down when the presure is on .

10 corners and not a sniff of a goal! In the days of Beckford and Earl we would have got five or six ! Those were the days a corner was nearly as good as a penalty.

The season has been a catalogue of off field errors from start to finish and they have got their just desserts. The resources were there to have done so much better, which is what is so infuriating.

I understand it and I believe the retained list was a decision that has resulted in a fairly successful season.

 

We could have risked getting rid of 75% of the squad with a new inexperienced manager. Or stick with and improve a team that was ok for the majority of last season.

 

It's progress and I would expect similar again this summer even with budget cuts.

I'm still not sure about Page as our manager. We can't defend set-pieces, we can't threaten from set-pieces and his reluctance to address the striker frailties casts doubt of his effectiveness at the helm. Some how this team managed to bore and grind its way to beat a long-standing home record, yet apart from the first few home games, I've generally left VP feeling bored and unentertained. Couple this with Smurfs off the field efforts and the future looks a little concerning.

Excellent post. Whilst I'm disappointed, the season has been a success and Page deserves a lot of praise. I just don't expect to see him receiving it from most on here or the chairman.
