Port Vale 0 - Barnsley - Post Match Comments

Everyone prior to the game was hoping that Barnsley'd play with one eye on next week and the players would want to stay fit and not get sent off, Toney however was doing his best to get himself dismissed, how many times did he clash with players and fall to the ground complaining, I'd have sent him off for time wasting alone. The referee however had other ideas and wouldn't have sent him off if he'd pulled his shorts down in the centre circle.

I hope Toney plays on Sunday and plays just the way he did against Vale.Hope the ref sends him off and everyone sees just what a horrible nasty dirty cheat he is.

I'm sure he was taken off before he got sent off.

unfortunately page talks through his ****.

Really? In what way? Can you give me some examples?

Not all the time as the poster you quote but he does drop humdingers at times;

Last season when he dropped O'Connor at Rochdale.

The retained list.

Saying we don't need a striker.

Saying we are overachieving.

Dropping Neal after 10 points from 12.

Correct REP. Here's a few more :-

"Why risk it?" - when asked if he'd make any changes for the next match, after we'd stopped a losing streak by getting a draw at the end of last season. This is obviously his approach whenever we win a game too, as he nearly always keeps the same team.

"Ben Williamson is a fantastic footballer for this football club" - not just a public confidence-booster for BW, Page obviously believed this as he kept on picking him game after game after game, even when he went 19 games without a goal.

"Louis Dodds is the best player in this division, in his role" - (whatever his role may be?!)

"Ryan McGivern has been outstanding this season"

"This squad is full of goals" - just mental, that one!

"We are scoring goals" - when asked if he'd be signing a striker........we'd scored 3 in 6 games at the time!

"What a fantastic end to the week" - after we'd drawn 1-1 at home to Scunthorpe!

Can't remember which opponents it was against but stating that one particular away game this season was possibly the best performance under his managership - don't think we had a shot on target in the game!

Can't disagree with any of those either. Like the chairman he's probably better letting actions speak louder than words.

After the match Page said "we'll roll up our sleeves and go again"

That should be taken for granted ! What he failed to say was ..... "I will get the players in and have them training at shooting. It is not beyond hope that we could have at least 5 players who can hit an 8ft x 24ft target from 8 yards."

The inability to aim the ball at the goal was the sole reason we lost - nothing to do with a **** ref - nor a little Wonker who played games messing with the Vale players heads.

We lost because the players can't shoot straight .

He also said the he players had given ABDOLUTELY everything, well everything apart from shots on target!

If Norman introduced a swear jar at the club which included the phrase "we dust ourselves off and we go again" then he probably wouldn't need to worry about the club's finances ever.

no worries with our finances santa. for some bizzare reason the floodlights were on for the entire game for some reason! we must be minted to have them on in bright sunshine!

Rob's obviously a tracksuit boss and clearly defends his squad to the hilt (sometimes he says things we disagree with, but name me a boss who doesn't).

But at least you gave examples, fair enough.
